Alfonse V.Conte
Mr. Alfonse V. Conte, age 79, of Utica, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at St. Luke?s Hospital with his loving family by his side. Al was born on October 15, 1929, in Utica, NY, a son of the late Victor and Josephine Graziano Conte and was educated in local schools. Al married his high school sweetheart, Lois Mack on September 30, 1950, a blessed union of 58 years. He was owner/operator of Victor Conte Sales Co., and was known throughout the country for his expertise in the billiard and coin operated amusement and music industries. Al truly loved his work, and was actively working until his death. He was a parishioner of Mount Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church, and an original member of The Highland Flying Club. Al enjoyed fishing and hunting, and especially loved the time spent with his family. Al is survived by his beloved wife, Lois, five loving daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Frank DeRocco of Utica, Cathi and Bob Morgan of Whitesboro, Mary Jo and Larry Fredsell of Utica, Carolyn and Kevin Latimer of MA, Susie Conte and Charlie Greene of NJ; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Victor and Eileen Conte of Utica, Michael Conte of Columbia, South America, and Alan Conte of Frankfort; his cherished grandchildren, Gina and Joseph Cassella, Frank and Nicole DeRocco, Vincent and Patrick DeRocco, Michele and Paul Dischiavo, Christopher and Tricia Lucas, Victor Conte and fianc?, Carrie Gearhart, Erin and Scott Morris, Jennifer Nizer, Lynette and Jason Dundon, Marianne, Amanda and Alan Conte, Ryan and Colleen Morgan, Alli Morgan, Lawrence, Nathan and Ashley Fredsell, Eric and Jackie Latimer, and Sidney Greene; great grandchildren, Nicole, Joey, Devon, Mia, Andrew, Ella, Sean, Matthew, Addie, Jack and Danielle; several Aunts, Uncles and cousins; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Joan and husband Carl Popolo, and nephew John and wife Trish Passiatore; and in-laws, Bob Mack, Al Johnson, and Cindy and Al Loeschner. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Heather Morgan; and one sister and brother-in-law, MaryLou and John Passiatore. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 4 to 8 p.m. at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home, Inc. 1122 Culver Ave. The family wishes to thank the entire staff at St. Luke?s Hospital, and Dr. Toby Taylor, and a special thank you.
