I saw this side item at The Tulip Bar & Bistro in Lexington, KY that accompanied the short rib entree...Alabama pool room slaw! LOL. What's so good about the slaw in pool rooms in Alabama? Some one please guide this culinary explorer...

ok then.

I just printed the slaw recipe and will be smoking up some pulled pork meat.

I can taste it now!

Those entree menu prices seem to be a little steep. Maybe it's the Bistro thing.

Damn, Y'all are making me hungry!

Yeah, it's a higher end restaurant. BUT, it's damn good and the Missus and I are repeat customers. Started with the dozen raw oysters. The ahi tuna was delish, as was the she crab soup with caviar. Polished off a bottle of Bordeaux and finished the night off with a nice tawny port.

But I like a good hot dog sometimes too.

I got a buddy who is a near-famous chef...people doing amazing food out there.

I have gone to a few of his spots up/ down the east coast, unannounced, and been kinda shocked at the 28$ sandwiches and 50$ entrees...but wtf, it IS incredible.

Course, I gotta remember that I get the added value of telling waiter, "I would like to ask if you would please ask the chef to come to my table..."

Good times, when he sees who this Fokker is that called him out.

That was a nicely written little article/recipe.

Just to turn this into a restaurant review thread... This is my wife and mine go-to place for our yearly anniversary trip, we have yet to find a better place to hang out and eat.

Daaayyyumm!!! I'm taking my lady there ASAP!

I highly recommend it. The restaurant is about 30 min from the hotel, and it's amazing. I have been going there for about 7-8 years now, sometimes a couple of times a year and have not had a single thing bellow "excellent" there LOL

And the hotel, well, you see the pics, and imagine being in the middle of a high budget movie set. It's not some cheesy theme hole in the wall. That cream pie room we stayed in last year and it has autographed pictures from Gilligan's Island actors in the room.

This room is my favorite I think, Fred's Lair, the back door leads to the backyard you see with the lounge chairs and is also next door to the hot tub and steam room in the first building.

This is also a fun room, the mirror ball is controlled with various lights you can set in the room over the bed. It's, ah.. sets a nice mood ;)

No mint in brownies!

Never been down south I see. One of my most memorable dining experiences was at Elizabeth's on 37th in Savannah Georgia. I remember those scallops and grits like yesterday, even though that was about 15 years ago. Dammit, I'm a foodie...I hate myself!

Just dont put Mint in the Fudge Brownies and you'll be alright!
