Alex Brick

i am not sure about the price on that cue when it was made, but to have it made now i would guess $2500.he gets $1200 for plain 12 pointers,6 in the forearm and 6 in the butt.that one has ivory joint and lost of ivory inlays.the big slabs are the expensive ones.with no inlays it would be around $1500 and with the amount and size of inlays i would say Marcus's price is pretty close.

You really have me wondering how much it was back then.

This info is based on his old pricing from when he lived in Memphis.

4 points high = 550
4 points low = 100
Ivory joint = 150
Ivory Ferules x2 = 65+65=130
Ivory inlay work = done by quote

It would be $930 + whatever he charged for the Ivory inlay work.

So my $1500 guess can't be too far off

i am sure he has gone up since then, but it looks like the cue has 24 inlays and i think the small inlays start at $25 per,but the large ones are mcuh higher.i would think those 9 real big ones would be $75 a piece maybe more, and $50 for the 9 medium ones.i am not for sure as i only make the plain cues, but i know ivory is high, and i think i am close on the inlay prices.the cue with ivory joint and ferrules is going to start at $1500.also Amboyna may be a little extra as well.i will ask him tomorrow what he would charge for the cue to be built today.

I am more interested in what it cost when it was made. I know he charges more now than he did then.

If those inlays add up to $600 by themselves (back then) that would make the cue about $1500

I recall him acquiring that AMBOYNA and I was surprised how expensive it was....

IIRC he made two that were similiar but not identical.

he said it was listed at $2900 when he made it.

THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP WITH THE INFORMATION. I FIGURED IT HAD TO BE AROUND 3K WHEN HE MADE IT, AND I'M SURE IT WOULD BE MORE NOW. IT EVEN HAS FANCY JOINT CAPS FROM ALEX.

I've posted previously about my Brick experience. I gave Alex a design of "mine" (modified from an overpriced Omen cue) back in '98ish, discussed pricing, and had tons of dialogue during the build. The entire process was a pleasure, to say the least. Although I dont have pics available currently, (theyre posted in here somewhere) it is Ebony, w/4 high curly pts, 4 low curly pts with purpleheart pts inlaid into the long pts. The butt is 1/2 ebony and purpleheart.
10 yrs now I've played with only this cue, and dont believe his cues get the attention they deserve. I'll try to find pics in the next day or two.

I see that adam erased his post that said $1500 was about right.

hard to believe the price would be the same now as it was then.
