He is not listed among the players of completed matches or current matches at DCC website! weird!
Why? Obviously Alex thinks he can make more $$$ playing poker rather than pool. That makes him smart, imo. Go with your strong suit, I say.

well, he's considered one of the top 5, if not higher in pool, meaning guaranteed money. however, in poker, if he was top 10% of players, he wouldn't be playing in the philipines, he'd be in vegas playing at higher limit tables.
i'm not sure, but the amount of $ that exchange hands in the philipines poker tables aren't that high to win 10k plus in a weekend, but i could be wrong.
i'm guessing that he's just in the swing of his life where poker is more interesting, not necessarily the $ itself.
the other aspect is the traveling that's involved in coming to the states, because once he's here, there are too many different places that would want him, ie swanson in LA, vegas, etc.
just look at efren's travel sched for the past month. LA, NYC, DCC, vegas, LA, etc. not easy and not cheap.

If all you are doing is playing poker all day long in the Philippines why not take a break and come to an event and hang out with some old peers and friends from the pool scene, and maybe win some money since you are still likely in the top 10 on the planet in most games and potentially the best all around player alive?
He might make money playing poker but he is one of the most gifted pool players to ever live and that is where his legacy will ultimately lie.

i'm sure staying in the philippines is like being home. i'm sure he has a lot more relatives there than in canada. i'm sure his $ goes a lot further than it does in canada. i'm sure the food, culture, friends, etc is a lot better there than in canada.
