Alex won Texas annual 10 ball event

Short race but interesting strategy...

The Lion had to pull out all his bag of tricks and strategy to squeek out a win against
Sky. The alternate break is a big advantage for the player who depends more on cat
and mouse than break and run especially in shorter races.

Maybe Alex and Sky can play a big set. Their Fargo is fairly close while I think Sky is much underrated.

The only big race I remember Sky playing is vs Oscar and Sky is much improved since then.

Sky's game has dramatically improved in the last year or so. I think his Fargo maybe hasn't quite caught up yet.

In a race to 7? I thought everything was big in Texas???

Races to 7 in 10 ball are pretty equal in time to races to 9 in 9 ball. Both are three day events and run until pretty late on the final day with full fields of 128 plus a ladies division. The Open division had 126 players. The Ladies division had 43. That is a lot of matches in a room which has 14 nine footers. They would all still be playing if it were races to 9.

Of the 125 in the Open 10-Ball Championships, here are the top eight:

Champion: Alex Pagulayan
2nd Place: Skyler Woodward
3rd Place: Francisco Bustamante
4th Place: Ruben Bautista
5/6th Places: Roberto Gomez & Omar Alshaheen
7/8th Places: Manny Chau & Kevin Guimond

Well said. This is a great room and they hold great tournaments. Along with the 14 GC's there is another area with 7 Diamond bar tables and the entire place in non-smoking.

I watched some of it and truth be told I turned it off. Don't know why but it got boring to me. Congrats the AlexP though.

I moved a lot when I was a kid. I had already lived in Alaska when we moved to Texas. One day a teacher told the class Texas was the largest state in the nation in terms of geographical area. I pointed out Alaska which had just become a state a couple years ago was over twice as large. Teacher didn't appreciate my helpful information.

Something about a black Diamond table with blue simonis makes the game more interesting to watch.
