You can be sure that when the book is available there will be a posting in the Wanted/For Sale forum and probably here in the main forum as well. Thanks for asking.:)

"Confessions of a Pool Hustler"

I'm gonna bet that Alfies book is gonna be great, we knew all the same people. I knew his brothers real well and made money with Jack many times ! Good luck with it Alfie !

My answer to Jimmy Mack

Hello Jimmy.
How fun to have my memory jogged about my trapping the soldier you brought to Tucson in the seventies (posted yesterday 6;08). It's hard to believe that sombody who played Weldon's speed was either so gullible or egotistical to think they could beat ANYONE playing them one-pocket where only their pocket scratches counted. How could anyone ever get a shot if their opponent could roll the ball where they wanted it for safeties? It reminds me of a couple of times I played Ronnie Allen one-pocket in Ca. There were guys around Tournament Billiards in Culver City who Ronnie played nine to seven and I played even. Yet, Ronnie terrified me so much he played me eight to five and after a few hours my fingertips were raw from shooting out of the stack. If I could roll the ball where I wanted, I'm sure that's what I did to your soldier friend.
You can call that "Pool Player meets Pool Hustler".
I think I just wrote a book about that sort of thing.
Thanks again for the contact.
Keep it nice. Alfie

This is the first message I have ever posted. I must begin by saying "thank you so much" Mr. Figueroa for your kind words about my new book, The Other Side Of The Road. Writing it took me back to a more adventuresome time in my life.
I hit the road at a young age, during pool hustling's most colorful years and was blessed to travel with Eddie Taylor and hang with Minnesota Fats, among other greats, when they were in their prime. It gives me pleasure to offer a peek into the way it really was during those times.
It also would give me pleasure to answer any questions you might have about this era or the characters that made it so very interesting.
The new printing of my book should be out in a few weeks. You can contact me through alftaylor1@yahoo.com if you're interested in a signed copy.
Again..Thank you Lou. My hat's off.

Keep it nice. Alfie "Bicycle Willie" Taylor

I would like a copy !
I was first to give you green rep btw ! :)

Is this the same Alf Taylor.....

.....who did the Eddie Taylor video and the "Fast & Loose in the Rockies" match between Archer and Reyes?

The Other Side Of The Road

I was fortunate enough to pick up a "Pre-release" copy from Bill Porter (Thanks again Bill!) down at the DCC, and let me say it is nothing short of fantastic!

Thanks for your contribution to my library Mr. Taylor, it was an absolute pleasure!

Paul Davidson

Yes sir. I am the one who made them. I also made one of the WPBA championship in Hawaii and On the All Japan Tournament. It's interesting how I have spent more time enjoying making these videos (Now DVDs) and then I never bother to promote them. I'm surprised to run across anyone who has them. The Eddie Taylor and The Legends of Pool Piece is uniquely historical and the Archer/Reyes Nine-Ball, Eight Ball challenge two DVD set, put in the words of the inimitable, Thomas C. Shaw "This is run out pool, folks"
Thanks for the inquiry.
Keep it nice. Alfie

Thank you, Paul, for your sweet critique of my book. It's always inspiring to hear. Someone once said "If you want to look good, write a book about yourself". I'm afraid this one is too accurate to do that.
I sent a few of the pre-release copies to Hollywood and the first thank you card I got back was from Johny Depp. He sent a photo too, but it got scrunched under my wife's pillow.
Keep it nice. Alfie

Alf, when you get a Website set up to sell your book, it would be easy to use it to sell the DVDs as well. Or even do some combo deals with the book and one or more DVDs as a package.

question for Odzilla

With a handle like that, you probably could have helped me get out of some of those tough pool rooms...back a zillion or so years.
I see you're associated with Accustats. Would you please ask the man there who was good friends with Bill Staton contact me via
alftaylor1@yahoo.com when he has a moment. Thank you.

For the enjoyment of learning to poste with you and all of the positive response to my new book that's come from it.
...not to mention the many orders.
What a nice way to fill up some spare time and catch up with a lot of my old cronies.
Keep it nice. Alfie

My apology

I tried to put my book's front cover small, on the side, but it came out BIG. Won't happen again.
Keep it nice, Alfie...OK
