All 9 balls on the break! (Video)

Its fake, but pretty neat none the less. I think it was posted here a few months ago.

Yeah, no doubt. After the break, no ball touches another. I mean, I know nothing about how they did this and it's the first time I've seen it but if I were to guess, you're looking at a compilation of 10 different videos simulatenously shown to give the illusion that the person made every ball on the break. It is cool, though.

I'm sure it's fake or staged or something. However it did get me wondering. If you're in league. Say the APA (I know but forget it for now).

If you break and all 9balls fall would that be a 9 on the break or a break and run??? Or both? As in which patch would you get?

You get the patch that says "you're too darn good for leagues, go join the IPT". :D

Timberly. It depends on your break. If you break outside the box then you're stuck making bar bets. If you do it inside the box you got your Bar Bets and you get a chance to beat Efren Reyes.

Also it would take some work in 8ball too to get all of your colors to drop.

It would be funny though. The IPT champion can't make a single ball but can break and run.

Speaking of the IPT and breaking... this weekend in Baltimore, ESPN was taping a scotch triples tournament with 12 pros. Corey D's team was in the finals. Corey got the 1st break of the 1st game. It was a gorgeous break... couple of balls made, everything spread out, and then he scratched. The next thing you know, his team is down 3 zip! Later that evening we were discussing that particular break and he mentioned that the IPT tables are brutal and very, very difficult to break on.

This isn't earth shattering news and I'm sure most, like myself just assumed this, but I still found it interesting nonetheless coming from Corey. He's known for his 9 ball softbreak, but I've got to tell ya...he was playing 8 ball and breaking from the box in Balitmore and he was pocketing balls and spreading things out nicely. I was impressed with his 8 ball break.

One person actually sent me an email about 9 months ago, with a video showing all 9 balls off the break, asking me if my breaking cue could do that for him.

I am still not sure if he was joking or being serious.

But it got me thinking: In theory, is it possible to make all balls off the break if you can break the balls with an unlimited supply of power and control?

If you can hit the balls so hard that they all collide with each other many times, it should be possible that they all would all fall, right?

On a side note, Corey Harper told me he broke and made seven balls off the break with a cue with a leather tip. That is the most balls I have heard made off the break.

I've personally seen seven made off the break before. I believe it was a leather tip as well. The funny thing was each player then had 3 or 4 turns at the table after the break with only two balls left...lol!

if thats the video im thinkin of its not staged its a spliced job.......one of the balls just disappears as the cueball hits the rack

It most certainly is possible. I know, because I did it 20 years ago. Unfortunately I also scratched.

I suppose theoretically nearly anything is possible. It would be interesting to take a poll of everyone who has spent time in a poolroom and ask them the highest number of balls they've seen made on the break. You'd get all sorts of answers. You'll hear 5 and 6, and in Corey's case 7. But you'll never hear 9.

But here's something I find even more intriguing. Suppose by some way-out once in an eternity fluke somebody makes all 9 balls on the break. Now suppose this is witnessed by 10 people. Suppose one of the 10 people is someone you know and trust. Would you believe him? Even if it does happen and 100 people see it, that's not enough to withstand the doubt of millions. (this is why I carry a video camera with me everywhere I go...hah hah hah)

That was just 3 months ago :D

My buddy Danny Harriman made 6 balls on the break playing in Sudden Death 7 Ball on ESPN. That one is on film!

Yep, got that on DVD.

He had a undesirable shot on the 7 as well, but pulled it out.

I played in a small amateur 9-Ball tournament in Asia where a guy made all 9 balls on the break on an eight foot table with loose pockets.

I did not see it happen myself, but I heard about it from enough people who did that I believe it happened.
