All Japan Championship Live

LOL at the dude struggling to get the angle right. Still can't see one of the corner pockets.

ETA: Good they fixed it.

ALl Japan payouts

Does anyone know what the payouts (and entry fee, if any) were at the Japan event?

Asking because of some comments I had heard that if not a top 4 finisher, you lose money.

Just curious how other countries do payouts.

Total; $100,400
Winner; $28,600
Runner-up; $14,300
3rd place; $7,150 x 2
5th place; $3,600 x 4
9th place; $1,800 x 8
17th place; $900 x 16

I believe this is in US dollar term. Women division payout was slightly lower than this, although I couldn't find any info about it for this year.

Entry fees:

Player starting from the 1st stage; $250 (\20,000)
Player qualified to the 2nd stage ; Additional $190 (\15,000)
Player starting from the 2nd stage; $440(\35,000)

I believe the numbers in the bracket denote Japanese Yen.

Also, for all foreign players, there is a 20% tax deduction on all prize money awarded. Ouch!

That's 9 TW players in the final 16, if you count Lo Li Wen.
Pretty good result.
Payout kinda suck though. You probably net negative even coming in 16th place.

So SVB incurs how much in expenses - 3 thousand-ish? - finishes a very respectable T9-16 and cashes for $1800 - 20% tax. Ouch.

Didn't I read somewhere that he's never won any tourney of note on foreign soil? I was pulling for him...

Congrats to Chang!
