Third? There have only been two events so far this year, and if I recall correctly, Karen won the first one. How are you counting them?

Allison Wins Again

What makes this win so unique is she had to do it from the Loser's side.

Very true, she must of just wanted to play more games rather then sitting waiting cold in the hot seat J/K, but i think the winner that goes undefeated should be able to have the option of losing twice too.

With the format they are using, once it is down to 16 players, it is no longer a double elimination event. The final 16, regardless of which side they are on, are playing single elimination from there on out.

What exactly is the rational for this tournament format? Other than to reduce the number of matches played, I find none.

It seems that Pan got the shaft because she actually beat Fisher in the first round, but then didn't get a second opportunity because she advanced to the final 16 undefeated. On the other hand, Fisher had 2 opportunities and won the tournament just because she lost early in the tournament. Doesn't make sense to me.

That appears to be totally unfair. Naturally the players on the losers side would be eliminated but the others don't get a second chance to move up?
How many are on the winners side in the final 16? There must be a lot of ties for 3rd place. If a player would look at the brackets it maybe wise to move into the losers bracket before the final 16. Beat all the losers since they are weaker players and then be guaranteed a 2nd place finish instead of trying to move up by slugging it out on the winners side.

Coming through the losers bracket doesn't guarantee anything higher than 9-16...same for going that far in the winner's bracket.

When I first looked at this format, I felt the same...why do some get 2 losses and others only get one. The way it was explained to me by one of the players is that they look at it like a qualifier to get into the top rounds. It's a double elimination tournament to narrow the field down to the final 16. The 8 from the losers side get a random draw to get matched up with one of the 8 still remaining on the winner's side. At that point, it is virtually a new tournament with just 16 players and single elimination. I still think it's a bit strange, but I can't argue that it is or isn't fair. Once it's just 16 players, it's just a single elimination tournament.

What do you think this will do to the players that are commonly in the hot seats and always placing third and second.......Would this format mean there will be alot of new Champions and more dedication and drive to play even their best.?

Allison is a Freaking Machine..!!!! How does she stay two steps ahead of the competion?? I met her once and she was really nice, blew me away because on TV all you see is her with her game face on!
