Allison fisher, have you seen her play lately?

Excuse my spelling:

i'd like to see the Fischers, Corr, Balukas, Chen, Chezka, Jasmin O., play a long set round robin when all were in their prime

i like Chen with A. Fischer a close second.

Balukas is a dangerous wildcard

Chezka is yet to hit her prime, and neither Fisher has a c in their last name.

from what other people seem to say
balukas was above and beyond the other women pros
so i would pick her to annihilate them

it's a shame there isn't more footage of her in action

i'd prefer to clock her vs input from others who saw her play decades ago

it's easy to joke and let your stroke out when one is clubbing baby seals

i know she didn't book many losers, however, the competition was weak when she dominated

here is a quote from mike segel
about balukas playing against the men
able to beat 75%b of the men aint too shabby
'I think letting her in is a great idea,'' Sigel said. ''She`s a great player. She can never win, but she can beat about 75 percent of the guys. It`s more publicity for the game and will generate more interest in the sport in the long run.''

love the dutchess..she's half-retired so I'm not expecting her to replicate her previous results
otherwise, she's still top 20 in the world, and if she caught a gear, she would be right there
re: balukas, my *guess* is that a generation ago, only ally would regularly challenge her
these days tho, there are a lot of strong players that could test queen jean..still I'd watch it

Sounds like Sigel to say she can never win, which is saying the same thing about 75% of his fellow men pro players. It might be true but it’s the kind of thought that should be kept to yourself.

based on FR Chen ranks higher than 75% of men on various pro tours

chezka, the fishers and corr were also at about that level in their prime

PS...i don't think chezka has reached her prime

Allison Fisher had everybody dogginnit at one time and then she took the Women's Association chair position - whatever it was at the time
and never dominated again.

Looks like cause and effect to me IDK. I theorize besides draining her time, doing that job right means giving a shit about those whose asses you're supposed to kick. Not a great recipe IMO.
Course maybe she deliberately transitioned. IDK.
Can you tell I'm a fan?
I think you get to the point where you tell yourself a few racks on the practice table beforehand and you're good to go, doesn't always apply once a certain age is reached.
Found that out the Hard way and wound up sweating my ass off in practice sessions trying to get back to square. Not as easily done these days. If she's switched priorities, it'll show on the green.

Too bad we will never know

Karen Corr didn't have to lose to any man. I don't follow woman's pool so I don't know where she stands amongst the all time greats, but I've watched her beat some of the best men players.

If they had fargorate in the year 2000, Allison and Karen would likely have been the only 2 female pros at 700+. Now there are 19 at 710+ and 8 at 750+.

I was watching her play at a tournament on billiards TV and she played horrible.
Missing rather easy shots and position.
She looked nothing like arguably the best women player ever.
What happened? She is not that old 56 or so.
Haven't seen her play in a while, but .....

I believe she is the only woman over 50 to win a major event in the nine-ball era. Dorothy Wise did it in the straight pool era. There have been extremely few woman professionals that even competed at the top level beyond the age of 50.

Agree, playing high level pool while in your 50's ain't easy, just ask Earl. My hats off to both Allison, and Dorothy for what they accomplished.
I see that Johnny is playing in Turning Stone, it'll be interesting to see how he does there. I believe he's now in his 50's as well. Good luck to him, would love to see one of these older guys turn back the clock one last time.

Archer is 55 now. Would be nice to see him play more often- I’m interested in whether he could get close to his prime form
