For two days I was averaging two balls on the break with the 10-ball ghost about 75% of the time. I was breaking from a piece of cloth under the QB to save my cloth. Today I forgot to bring the little piece of cloth out on the patio, (too lazy to go in and get it) so just broke from the table. I was lucky to make one on the break w/o the piece of cloth under the QB in about 15 breaks.

I went in and got the piece of cloth and started making more balls on the break right away. Maybe using the little piece of cloth launches the QB more giving it more air time=QB traveling faster when it hits the rack? Johnnyt
 
You got it, the little piece of cloth sends the cueball in the air a bit more. See if you can replicate the results by hitting the cueball lower or elevating very very slightly.

l think it's all in your mind....you don't want to damage your cloth so internally you hit the cb with caution on the break without the cloth,with the cloth under the cb you know your felt is safe and so internally you strike the cb with reckless abandon devilmade care which delivers more internal force ,the chinese call it 'chi'. this force is transferred to the rack and viola! balls are potted...your love affair with your felt may indicate a need for deep psychological counseling, but what do l know l sleep with my rack.
