Im 5"11", by any means an above average or average height. I regularly play snooker and find the height of the tables work quite well

In the casr of pool. The table is so short and feels a lot more tiring to bend over..
Am i the only one to think this?

Probably not the only one.

But I think they are too tall!!! I have to play longer postion plays, being 5'5"!

Pro's and Con's to both being tall and such.

LOL I have threatened many time to raise up my pool table to a more comfortable height since I'm 6'2" tall but I didnt want to get used to that since all the other tables are shorter.

I thinking in the US the average height has increased over the last 150+ years but the pool tables have stayed the same.

You make me laugh Johnnyt...the older I get..the more I dislike bending over my shots..and speaking of shots..some of those are looking longer then they use too..lol

Johnnyt you have a nice weekend.

I'm 5'8", which I guess is the height pool tables are really built for. They seem just about right. :)

Damn you tall guys trying to raise the table. I am 5'4" and when I am on a 9 footer I have to remember to play shape below the center pockets so I can reach the cue ball easily. Heck I still need the rake on a bar box sometimes.

I think you got a style problem.
I come from golf where you're always adjusting your stance to suit the shot.
I see players that are 5 ft. tall and 6 ft. 5 in. who always seem comfortable.
Sooo...your stance should suit the conditions....not just yourself.

I'm 6 ft. with long arms and I'm comfortable at snooker and pool.....
...I tend to stay up a bit on low tables.

The tables are short!

I'm 6' 2'' the tables are way to short in most places. For the short guys, Its far easier to grab a bridge if you get out of line on a shot, but to have to deal with the table heigth on ever shot can be tuff if your in action over a long period.

Might have been Earl who said ...

I heard someone say, "If yoiu raise the table height by a couple of inches, half the Filipinos would have to quit the game". Whoever it was I'm sure they were just goofing around.

In golf, the ground is always the same, right under your shoes. I guess the rule that your feet have to be on the ground could reflect the need for short people to stand on a milk crate. Tall people, ??? Get a floor which lowers to make table higher, or a scissor jack to adjust for varying heights and keeping the table level?

You may want to consider FRS (femur reduction surgery). Not only will it eliminate your grotesque gangliness it will make modern airline seating far more comfortable for you.

Pool tables were designed for people of the correct height -- 5'7". Just ask Willie Mosconi.

:) he really is that short. I have to admit (I'm 6' 2") I don't mind the height of pool tables. like all things, you can adjust.

So that's why he usually beat Crane.

With today's women and Asian players, the average player height might even be less than in pool's American heyday.

A couple decades ago the table manufactures figured out that by reducing the height of the bed they could save a couple $$$ on the legs.

This has lead to back problems for some players (30" bed height versus 32").
