Friends and family at AzB, I would love to share with you something I wrote on the Great Jose Amang Parica's visit to our humble event, which kicked off last Saturday.

Thank you very much, my AzB family!

My kumpadre Jesse Gonzales Cambosa Sr. and I were seated beside the Great Jose Amang Parica during our group dinner at the Golden Break Hookah Bar and Billiards. ️

.
In our conversation, I highlighted to him how blessed I am to be friends with the other four members of the Filipino Invasion who really took time out for me on and off the pool scene. And I repeated the stories shared with me by those who personally knew him, listening with gusto about his beginnings in the sport, his years growing up and learning the game, to finally making a name for himself - becoming the most feared pool player and the money game king for at least 20 years.

The Great Amang was very much surprised to hear that I also know about his favorite car then - his Impala! It brought a smile, a very nice smile to Amang, who also reminisced his adventures with his then favorite car.

.
I then politely said to Amang how fortunate I am to have been able to watch the Filipino Invasion Efren, Django, Boy Samson, and Dodong on the green felt - countless times, live - except for one - him. This was due to the fact that he lives in the US and personally attended to and managed a number of his very successful business interests outside the billiard industry.

The Great Amang smiled. Then flashed his unmistakable grin. And deep inside, I knew something was about to happen!

.
Most of us have never seen Amang play in person, myself included! Truth be told, companies, organizers, and more pay top dollar to see him grace their events and play.

And the founding members of the South Golden Breakers were in for a special treat! After dinner and bottles of San Mig Light later, Jose Amang Parica, Leader of the Filipino Invasion, borrowed a cue and proceeded to a table - to the delight and awe of everyone!

.
It is such an honor and a rare privilege to see the first Filipino pool icon play/practice live - the very first to put fear and respect for Filipino pool players in the hearts of opponents all over the world!

The original money game king - the Hall of Famer - at SGBA'S maiden tour at the Golden Break Hookah Bar and Billiards! Greatness on the green felt! And I kid you not!

Turning Stone Classic 2007....Jose Parica vs Johnny Archer.....
Almost 4 hours of a great duel. The strategy, safeties, kicking, big shots...Parica made that a match I'll remember forever. He was and always will be one of my favorite players to watch.

Great to see him back at the table if only for a brief moment. Thanks for posting the video.

I'll look up that one, my friend.

Yes, to see him actually on the table live was a treat. I will never forget the kindness he showed me by giving in to my request. What a very nice surprise it was!

We have many happy memories hanging out with Jose. He is the only pool player I let stay with us at my house. He is such a nice guy! We miss seeing him.

I have hundreds of Jose Parica photos, but this one is kind of cool. Keith, Jose, and Ronnie.

He is really nice, JAM! I was really surprised when he granted my wish to see him play - even if it was just about 20 minutes only.

In that short span of time, greatness was on the green felt. Even though I was controlling the vid cam, I made sure to watch the Great Amang with my own eyes and not the monitor.

He is pool royalty. What an honor to have him and be seated by his side during dinner. Truth be told, I will never forget it.
