Amazing Match Ko Pin Yi vs Fong Pang Chao

Chao, though not as well known as some of the others, is one of the greatest ever Asian players. This is the first time I've seen him play in nearly 20 years. It looks like there is still something left in the tank. Without giving away the result, I'll just say that the level of execution seen in the final rack of this match was truly a thing of beauty.

Thanks for sharing.

Second that! I remember back when ESPN was still showing Pool on TV that he was in a couple of matches that I watched and was just so smooth. Glad to see a video of him available...will definitely be watching on my lunch break. :)

My best guess is that you were watching the Challenge of Champions, which Chao participated in more than once. ESPN did, indeed, cover the Challenge of Champions back in the day.

If it stops and says it is unavailable, either go watch it directly on Facebook or exit this thread, come into this thread again and then pick up where you left off.

I want someone to look at 1:10:50 into the match and tell me if he was seriously considering that.

I think he was. In the 90's, I knew several people who would jump like that with just the shaft. Now, there is a minimum length for a jump cue. Also, Dr. Dave has a video showing that those are usually fouls although it is hard to see. The cue ball hits the shaft a second time to "help" push it over the interfering ball.

are they using dynaspheres? I thought the 7 ball should light blue and the 6 ball is grey.

Top of the line dynaspheres. If you watch closely, no circles around numbers, those silly rotor looking things. I'm sure they were trying to look distinctively different than other balls but I think they goofed the design there.
