Amazon perimeter style light

I think that I will go with the original Perimeter Light company for my pool table light once I buy a table in my new home. I would hesitate to buy an Amazon offered light- yes it is cheaper- why? why? --sorry but investing thousands in a table and then paying an electrician to do a correct overhead light install- I would hesitate to just grab any light off Amazon just bc it is much less expensive.

Everyone can choose to do whatever they want- not knocking anyone's personal decision - but after living a long time you learn that cheaper is rarely better, sometimes- but not too often-- especially when an install is involved- for the do it yourselfers- do you really want to end up doing it twice; way before it should need to be done again?

IDK- maybe someone here can firmly attest that an amazon perimeter light is the same or better than the Perimeter light that has been tried and true in the billiard world-- one cost $321 and the original Perimeter nine foot is about double that price-- again WHY?
I just bought one and it's sitting in the box on the floor waiting to go back. I've had a few people not be able to figure out how to join the pieces together. The manual they send is a two page tiny pic piece of crap. I go to the website to find a real manual, download it, doesn't match the light. They have redesigned it from every video I can find of an install. If you decide to spend $799 on a light, they ought to be able to provide decent instructions. If they would have sent me their original light it would be up right now.

Instead I get to send it back to them, pay shipping both ways, and a 15% restock fee. I was previously thinking of buying their ball cleaner too but after this I won't let these people anywhere near my balls.

The ball cleaner is not their's. It's a Chinese cleaner re-labeled for over double the price. And if you want to go that route, there are other ones for $120 on Amazon.

I did not go with the Perimiter- I called them first and did not like the conversation - here was my final choice - $550- works great - 4 shades and 82 inches long - perfectly centered at 45 inches above table with 4 100W LED bulbsIMG_3517.JPG

I bought the $129 Amazon Chinese ball cleaner and it works perfectly. I think that paying $400 to $750 for a ball cleaner is absurd- those $129 ones are just fine for home use- with new Simonis and TAOM chalk you can go a long time between using the cleaner - should last for years with modern equipment if you start out with new cloth, balls and TAOM

They responded to my criticism of their instructions by sending me an actual video showing how they do it. The video shows the light upside down from the instruction manual. You also have to remove the diffuser and the white plastic piece behind that in the area of the joints and then put them back in place once done. Some you can just bend out of the way a bit but some we had to remove. The instructions show none of this.

While I am definitely not happy with the instructions, I am happy they responded fairly quickly on a Sunday. I will go the route suggested above for the ball cleaner though.

We do have the light together and it works with the remote. It isn't hanging yet, not exactly sure when that will get done but soon.

I've played with just a couple of shop lights above my 9 footer for years. I sort of think players are now conditioning themselves into needing better lighting than they think they do. Don't get me wrong, playing on my buddy's well lit Diamond is nice, but playing on it all the time and then trying to play on a poorly lit table in some random room would get annoying if not difficult. It just seems like a variable I don't want or need to deal with.

I'm sure I could get by with only leaving the blinds open and having sunlight filter through. In fact, I could probably get by without a table at all. I am certain I didn't need Centennial balls but I bought those. I don't need my boat because I don't live on the water. Thing is, I am not looking to get through life only having what I need. I also am not looking to lower my home room standards to those of poorly lit table in some random room. I can pretty much guarantee I will not be in a random room on a poorly lit table. The variable I don't want to deal with is annoying people in random rooms. I will make my own room, just how I want it.......has not a thing to do with need.
