All of those people are aware of the tournament but for one reason or another they are not playing. Except for one that might be permanently banned, all of those players would have been welcomed.

i read bobby c saying it wasn't WPA sanctioned, so i don't know what to believe.

there's conspicuously few federation-whipped players there, who otherwise seem to be there. but that may be due to them not being allowed to play the international open 9-ball.

According to the WPA website, the American 14.1 has been on the calendar as a WPA ranking event for five months. The international Open has also been listed for five months as a ranking event.

Why do you believe players are banned by the WPA from the International Open? I have heard nothing like that. Do you have a reference?
 
Zach Goldsmith posted on FB yesterday that streaming would start at 3 pm EST (I think it is still EDT there) today. So that is about 3 hours from now.

that's weird, i'm pretty sure i read bobby writing that the 14.1 wasn't sanctioned. maybe he wrote they're not paying a sanctioning fee, but wouldn't that be same thing? i get a headache just thinking about the poolitics, i want to see balls collide

The 14.1 is not sanctioned as a world championship because the added money does not rise to the level required. There are several levels of sanctioning. The higher the level, the more calendar protection you get.
 
Looks like the first streamed match will be Bob Heller vs. Mario He in just a few minutes from now.

edit -- But Yednak and Corteza seem to be warming up.

what's up with a bracket? It has an icon for the '23 Men's on digitalpool, but doesn't find the tournament
 
Corteza beat Yednak 125-3. Now they have posted it will be Souquet vs. Barouty at 6:30 pm local time. So I guess nothing between now and then (on the main table, with commentary).

And continued to 141. At 140 he got too straight on the break ball and missed the pack with the cue ball on the break shot. Apparently he ran a 163 or 168 earlier in the day (they said both numbers at different times)!

mario was my favorite for the title when i saw the fairly soft players list. made semis last year, beaten by the eventual winner. but i personally hope for a veteran to catch a gear
