I heard thru the grapevine that Universal Cues and Dufferin Cues have a sponsorship opportunity position open for one American male pro player and one American female pro player.

Who wiuld you pick?

Not any player that's been around forever.
New blood from both sides. Young talent, with a lot of upside.
Lots of unforeseen off the table variables would go into this selection if I were picking it.
If you need to know anything call or text me Mike

Say

#1 Landon Shuffet, then Billy Thorpe, or Skylar Woodard
and
#1 Brianna Miller, then Liz Lovely, or Stacey from Vegas

A young male player that the lack of money is holding back from traveling to more tournaments. One that will promote their cues and not piss his money away in casinos, cards, or horses.

Female= Same as male and looks should not come into play. Johnnyt

I couldn't really fault them for factoring looks. It's been proven time and again that good looks help sell things, whether it's cues or real estate or just an extra drink at the bar. They're in it to make money so they gotta pick someone who will make them money. Obviously they factor playing ability too but that's only half of it.

For picking these players, are we skipping anyone with an existing sponsorship?
That narrows the field quite a lot. I'm having a hard time thinking of too many players
who haven't gotten scooped up yet.

There's a guy on the APT who looks like ben affleck and shoots with a pretty old cue that looks like it's seen better days. If dufferin makes a cue he can tolerate, they should nab him.

Only problem with that strategy is that sponsorship deals are usually short-term (1-3 years). So you sponsor the person through their development stage and then they drop you and sign with CueTec for the big bucks.

Female American pros seem to be way behind others. With the exception of Jeanette Lee, all the other names that I can think of that are marketable are Non-American.

For the Men, the young guns that JJ mentioned are abviously great candidates. Any other names, males and females?

And the problem with the ones that's been around forever is they feel they are owed everything. I've seen plenty of top guys get sponsorship cues and change and sale the stuff the next week or two. You can have no faith in them whatsoever. They don't even take the 30 seconds to call and say I'm switching or give back the product.

True American women are definitely years behind. And no one on earth will ever do it like Jeanette again, no chance.

brandon shuff- talented shooter and seems like a good guy.
females arent very good, there was a whole letter wrote on here by an american female player asking people ( begging people) to stop hating on females, which tells you all you need to know.

I think it depends a lot on what type of sponsorship you are talking about.

You may be able to get some young talent for just equipment sponsorship but may have to sweeten the sponsorship for a player that regularly cashes in pro events.

If you detailed what the sponsorship might hold, I would bet that members of this forum would pass the word to the right people.

There are three professional players hanging out at my pool room right now for the last several months and they don't, to the best of my knowledge have any sponsors.

It would also be important to know what you have in mind for the players to do besides compete using said equipment.

How about Josh Roberts
