So what is the latest on 'The American Road Player?

According to the site they were to already have hit the road.

Shouldn't they be posting like a daily log letting us know whats going on

They were doing a kickstarter thing to raise money the last I heard. Did they raise the money needed? Also I think this time of year is not the best time to do anything but they should be going by mid January I would think unless they have not raised the money needed.

That leads to a question, what if they do not raise enough money to start the project? what happens to the money they have raised?

They came up a little short

Their goal was to raise $40,000 in the month of december.
They were about 94% short of that, raising about $2500.00
donors were told that their money would be returned if the goal was not met.
I do not know how indigogo works.
You may be able to go there & undo your donation.
I would think that payton would visit azb pretty soon & give some details as to what is going on.

I've used Indigogo before and as far as I know there is no way to get a donation back. It will be up to Payton or someone on the team to make it right.

D'OH! Right after they say contributions are nonrefundable, they turn around and say this in the next paragraph.

Contributions made to any fixed funding campaign will be refunded in full if the campaign has not met its funding goal by its deadline. Contributors will receive these refunds in their PayPal account, or issuing credit card, within 5 days after the campaign's end.

It will be interesting to see where this goes from here and if people do get their money back and if the tent is just folded up and put on the shelf. I can't believe this whole project's ability to move forward rested on raising $40K which is a pittance in the grand scheme of things. We shall see!

They must put a hold on it until it reaches the goal, from the sounds of it.

Kinda curious if it would work to help start a tour. Probably not.

you sure aren't posting anything to back up these defamatory claims.

right or wrong i believe he is stating that scooter & his posse are the ones who cannot be trusted.
Not the filming company.
Just my opinion though.

I hope you're right Banks (and you probably are). Not that I don't think they would refund the money as stated but it would be nice if it was like just as easy as automatically going back in. I've never created an IndiGogo, just donated before and only read the contributions will not be refunded. I've never been burned on there but it was mainly helping friends that I knew from the gaming world and the bowling world so never had a reason to worry about getting money back or something.

Looks like they do indeed hold funds..

1. PayPal:

For Flexible Funding campaigns, contributions made through PayPal are sent to your PayPal account instantly. You will receive a disbursement confirmation from PayPal with each contribution. After the contribution has been sent, your PayPal account will be charged our 9% platform fee by Indiegogo.

If you meet your goal and raised funds through PayPal, we will refund 5% of your campaign's total PayPal funds so that your net platform fee is only 4%. That refund will be sent directly to your PayPal account within 10 business days after your campaign deadline.

For Fixed Funding campaigns, contributions via PayPal are disbursed to your PayPal account Once your campaign meets its goal, you will receive your contributions all at once as individual contributions. It may take up to 5 business days for the funds to transfer to your PayPal account. When the funds are sent to your PayPal account, they will arrive less Indiegogo's 4% platform fee. All additional PayPal transactions made past your campaign's funding goal are disbursed individually the moment the contribution is made, less Indiegogo's 4% platform fee and PayPal's processing fees.

That then applies to the refund section:

Refunds

Contributions on Indiegogo are nonrefundable according to our Terms of Use. A contribution is a transaction that takes place purely between the contributor, campaign owner and payment processor. If you'd like a refund for your contribution, please contact the campaign owner directly with your request. [Related Forum Article: Contact the Campaign Owner, How to Check on Your Perks]

For Contributors

Fixed Funding campaigns

Contributions made to any fixed funding campaign will be refunded in full if the campaign has not met its funding goal by its deadline. Contributors will receive these refunds in their PayPal account, or issuing credit card, within 5 days after the campaign's end.

A couple questions:

1. I thought the fundraiser campaign was for the post production, and the road trip was happening regardless. Doesn't this crew pretty much do this now? Just without the cameramen?

2. I thought the whole point of these social funding sites is that if the funding does not meet the goal, the contributors automatically get their cash back. Is this one different from kickstarter and the other sites? Or did I make an ass out of myself and assume incorrectly?;)

If you made a straight donation that might be returned.

Most of the 46 donors probably bought a hat for a 90 dollar donation. If you got merchandise there will be no refund.

You are correct. I didn't think you did but I've never ran into a situation where I checked. Banks checked it out and it should go back in to contributors paypal.

American Road Player Producer

Hello everyone. We want to thank everyone who donated so far to the Indiegogo project and to those who have helped to boost interest and have supported this venture. We are still working on more traditional investors and are hoping to fulfill our needs in time to shoot this show before The Derby. We will keep you informed as we have more information. If you have questions, please contact me or post them and i will do my best to answer all of them. We will also make a decision tomorrow if we intend to extend the campaign. Because the campaign is fixed, if we do not reach our goal, all investors will receive a 100% refund.

Thanks
Peyton
