Depends

It depend on what model and how old. Most of there late model tables (AMF Playmaster) I believe used K55.

Correct, and as I've stated before on other posts, the requesting party needs to supply a little more information if they'd like for use to be able to help inform them as to how to help them.

AMF cushions

I am quite sure AMF tables use K-66 rubber. Why don't you call an AMF dealer to verify this. My buddy has a AMF Grand Prix table that the rubber went hard. I called the local AMF dealer and he said it was K-66. He sold us AMF cushions for $50. The table plays great.

Yeah, it's an older table. I will call a dealer tommorrow. There isn't a "local dealer" around here. I just thought it might be an easy answer. No big deal.

FWIW - in most cases if you measure the old cushion you can determine the profile. Most tables use K55 or K66. The back (glue side) for K55 is 1 1/4". K66 is 1 1/8". Check that the old cushion matchs exactly with the subrail angle. If it overhangs or is smaller then that rail probably had the wrong profile rubber on it.

Just so everyone knows, AMF finally told me that they have always used
K66 rubber on thier tables.
FYI, AMF is a name, not a manufacture, they don't "ACTUALLY" manufacture pool tables, no more than they did when they bought Brunswick, or Harley Davidson. BUT, the three companies they DO own, were manufacturing pool tables "BEFORE" AMF bought them, so the do sell tables under their name. So when someone says they own an "AMF" pool table and need rubber for it, it would be kind of important to know "WHICH" AMF pool table they own...before purchasing rail rubber, either that or identify what the rail rubber is that is on the table for replacement. Just a thought is all.

Point taken. You guys have been nothing but helpfure in the past. I was in a bind when I asked the question and hadn't seen the table yet. I just threw it out thier to see if there was a simple answer. Next time I will be more descriptive.:D

LOL...I try to keep reminding everyone to give us technicians a little more information to work with other than just saying "I have a pool table that's messed up, what can I do to fix it?", or "I want to move my pool table, how much does it cost?"...LOL, that's almost like saying "I want to go somewhere, but I don't know where to go!"

Glen,

Actually AMF does manufacture tables. I have personally been to their facility in Bland, Missouri. They do not own three companies that make tables, but they manufacture three series of tables - low end tables are called Playmaster, medium end tables are Highland, and their hand-carved high end tables are called Renaissance.

Also, AMF doesn't own Brunswick and never has. They are a competitor to Brunswick not only in pool and billiards equipment but even moreso in Bowling equipment.

AMF has always almost exclusively used K66 rubber.

Tables

You missed one of the billiards manufacturing companies they also own. Like I said, they don't manufacture pool tables, the companies they bought do...under their name.

The forth company is Vitalie!

I guess I was mistaken about AMF owning the Brunwick pool table manufacturing division of Brunswick, but I know I read somewhere that when Brunswick bought Bayliner boats, they sold their billiards mfg leg of Brunswick, only to have to buy it back at a later date. I'll see if I can find out the information on that sometime.

AMF Exploring Strategic Options For Its Billiards & Games Division
Richmond, Va., November 18, 2004 - AMF Bowling Worldwide, Inc. (“AMF”) announced today that it is exploring strategic alternatives for its Billiards & Games division located in Bland, Missouri. The company has retained Stifel, Nicolaus and Company, Incorporated as its financial advisor to manage the process.

“AMF Billiards & Games is a healthy business and one of the top three billiards manufacturers in the United States ,” said Fred Hipp, AMF’s President and CEO. “Our Board of Directors is evaluating all aspects of the company’s business and how the different pieces fit together. We are going to determine whether it would be best for us to continue to invest in and run Billiards & Games or whether a favorable sale of the division to a company that wants to focus on the billiards business makes more sense.”

I guess the point that I'm trying to make is not in slaming their pool tables, it's the point that just like many other companies, the OWN but do not directly build pool tables. The companies that they AQUIRED over the years do. In example: Diamond owns Diamond, and Diamond manufactures their own pool tables, as well as Olhausen. They are not owned by a company that simply puts their name on the product, and then says THEY manufacture that product. When companies own subsiderairys like that, they are all subject to be sold if the price is right, or the situation calls for it, which to me says they are nothing more than a name.

Where did you read that Vitalie was purchased or owned by AMF.I'd like to read what else is said..
