Was the Gus refinished?

No, it is 100% original. The cue was sent to Barry, who polished it and cleaned and pressed the wrap. Guaranteed to be a 100% original condition Gus. Barry said that I would be "hard pressed" to find another original condition Gus in the same or better condition than this one. He also told me that this Gus is the only one he has ever seen with a blue veneer. Below is a page from Gus' order book showing the date that this cue was order -- March 22, 1984. Try and find better documentation on a Gus than I have for this cue.

This morning I purchased another Cantando (this one is ebony on ebony with engraving and an Ivory joint, etc.) and an 8 point Haley, which has 4 short Ivory points. Both cues are 100% MINT & STRAIGHT. They will be at the Midwest Cue Show on 10/3. Below are photos of the Haley. Photos of the Cantando will be posted tonight.
