Amway Cup Live now.

Shanelle at the Amway going down 7-0 each match. What a waste of an Amway spot. Johnnyt

Wait, she won a game!

Please, tell me she's not representing USA out there... It is a shame :frown:

Wait, she's not even ranked in WPBA, so how did she get invited?

There are invitational spots into the Amway cup. You don't need to be ranked.
If you can bring ratings and can play a bit, they will invite you.

I watched Yu Ram Cha played a Thai player last night and it was a massacre. The Thai player scratched 3 times the first 5 times she came to the table. She won 1 game after picking up a missed 9 by Cha. Otherwise she ran no more than 4 balls in ~6 games. But she apparently is a movie/tv star from Thailand. Her main game was snooker though. She played for Thailand in the SEA Games.

However, someone must had guaranteed her a spot. No one travels half way around the world hoping there would be a spot in a tournament

In her match vs. China's PAN Xiao-Ting the commentators actually mentioned a few times that she looks better than she shoots... :( But they did make the comment that she always carry herself in a very serious and professional manner, so they hope that her game improves next time at Amway.

In fact, they also said that Korea's CHA You-Ram didn't play well when she first came into the women's pro scene, but has since improved her game significantly.

And no, I have no idea how Lorraine got invited...

Hey, thanks for the links, by the way.

Well it's nice they said all that but Yuram Cha and Shanelle's been playing pool about the same length of time... so do the math

I personally am fascinated by some of the chinese commercials that are being broadcast. Its interesting seeing how the chinese develop ads for american products.

YuRam just spent a couple months in Shanghai getting coaching and practicing hard every day.

Great feed. I just watched Yu Ram Cha defeat Jeanette Lee 7-3.

I wish the US could garner so many sponsors. I don't know what the commentators are saying but they sound very professional and from the use of the telestrator, they know how to play.

The guy doing the color commentary and drawing the diagrams is named Simon. He is the king of pool commentary in Taiwan and that is about all he does. Is very knowledgeable and almost as much of a star in Taiwan as some of the players there.

And Shanelle spent the last 5 years learning how to look good holding a cue while doing photo shoots. Why is she playing for the USA. She was a champion in a little band box country where they had 2 tables and 20 players. Johnnyt

She is playing because she has the financial means, and the organizers allow it.

I think we get it Johnny... you don't care for her as a player.
