An attempt at civil discussion, on case construction.

Obviously a stellar price IMHO.

To the best of my knowledge that is his regular price. The thing about Roger is he's not really out to make a bunch of money. To me it seems he is in it for the challenge. He has other businesses for money. Building cases is all about passion.

The crazier idea you can come up with, the more excited Roger gets to build the case, BTW. I like to throw him some curve balls just for fun!!!

Edit to add this: Some one needs to go to Indo, and burn that man's camera, and give him a nice new digital 16mp or so camera!!!! That's about the only down side to Rogers cases. His pictures stink.

Nice thread

I have two JB cases, great cases (pics). Funny thing is if that nasty foam lid on a Porper vinyl 2X4 had not worn out after 10 years of almost daily use, I'd would probably still be using it. The GTF 2X4 Prestige is my all time favorite because it travels well, looks great and has kept my cues in good shape on long road trips.[/ATTACH]

Both are cool, but I really dig the GTF.

I would love to have a smooth black GTF with the latch and leather ends....

Funny...

IMHO JB makes the best protection case innards bar none... I've got one of his 2x4 plain JFlowers cases that fits my 58" cues, but I shoot with 60" cues, and have more than a few of them. So it pretty much just sits in a closet holding cues, and gets no "real" use other than standing upright.

So I'm toting around a 15 yr. old beat up, but totally functional 2x4 Whitten that was acquired from a friendly member here that was made to hold 60"s with j/p's. :grin-square:

I am however, at some point... expecting a custom JB that will hold my 60" shooter cues, as it will become my new carry case mainly due to its plush interior and support.
My favorite case as of now is my "Giraffe dyed Elephant ear Engles"

No special carving or work, just lots of character and a unique color...again, used simply as storage for a 58" Murrell. I do occasionally take out my 58" cues, and they're usually in the Engles of which there are 3 in my modest collection.

I love Jack Justis's work as well, but just haven't been able to afford one of the ones I'd like to own LOL...

I unfortunately had to drop off of Rusty Melton's list due to lack of funds and an uncertain financial future...kind of sucks, but he's assured me a spot once back on my feet... His cases are true works of art and are a must have for the case collector.

Most cases offer plenty of protection against damage...which is usually the owners fault not paying attention to what they are doing  bar some natural disaster.

Jhanso, your Volturi case is very nice, a case anyone would be proud of, congrats :)

Clint<---Likes all cases for the most part, and thinks they all have adequate support and protection...

That case is awesome! Would love a 3x6 version of that. Although I know I couldn't get the wife to ok it. I'm working her for a GTF at the moment and then I'll work my way up.

Also, $600 for that volturi case seems like a steal for all the detail in it.

I'm using an instroke 3x7 right now and it serves its purpose well,

That's what I thought too. I thought at first maybe he was a scammer cuz the price was too good. After I talked with him a bit though, I could tell that Roger had just bumped his head and likes to give his hard work away!!! I really didn't think I would get even close to this case for the price that I spent.

The one really cool thing about custom cases and cues is they really aren't necessary to shoot well. The feeling of pride I get when I walk in with gear that I can say my FRIENDS have made is just cool. They become talking pieces, and over time the case and cue feel like an old friend. I hit balls with the first cue I ever bought some times. It's a total POS, but when I grab it out of the rack and hit a couple it feels special.

My case already has that feeling. When I walk around in public and people that have already seen it 2, 3, 4 times still come up to me and poor over it, asking the same questions and making the same comments all over again. Just feels good to have something so cool.

best wishes,

Justin
