An AZ tournament

I think it would be fun to have a tournament with just AZB members. Be kinda cool to put some faces with names. Could even do it by area or at a larger event.
 
This has been talked about for awhile now. We had tried to get a little tourney of 50+ players during the Vegas BCA this year, but some of us were still in the multiple tourneys and had to drop out. I think they ended up with 12-14 players for a mini 10-ball tourney.

I know Jay helfert has talked about a gathering in a different post.
 
I think it would be fun. I'd like to be able to be a reigning champion of the AZ forums.(doubtful)

It is fun when you can play in an AZ tournament. Regional areas have had several tournaments over the years and you can start one in your area if you have enough AZBers.

Another thing that could be done which we could even start a new thread on is a coveted title that can be challenged by any AZBer wherever an AZBer can be seen. If the AZB Money King hides we can just embarass the hell out of him or her and impeach the King and then give the title who they won it from.

It could be a short race in 9 ball, 8 Ball or a short race in one pocket. The amount of money is important and I would guess that the number should be kept low so that anyone can afford to challenge the AZB Money King. It shouldn't be an endurance race either and something that anyone might have a chance at winning.

And it goes without saying that you can only challenge the AZB Money King if you have XXX amount of posts on AZ Billiards.

Any ideas or thoughts about that?

Good luck with your AZ B tournament. Let me know what you guys think about the AZB Money King Crown. It would be nice when you visit a particular town where the KING lives and snatch his crown and a few bucks to boot.

I think you have to provide some risk of loss and some possibility of gain otherwise, it is futile for many people. For me I wouldn't mind risking small money anytime I see any AZBer just for the interest that it would provide for other AZBers.

I think the denomination should be $50 and the race should be short so as to give the under-dog whoever that might be, a chance to win.

The discipline could be decided by a flip of a coin or mutual agreement.

But the number one rule I THINK, should be that before any match for the AZB Money King crown can take place, it must be announced in this forum at least 24 hours in advance so that other AZBers can have some fun with it.

Just my initial thoughts. I'd like to hear what others would want to see happen.

I think it is a great Idea Joey. I'm looking to try and get my company to send me out that way again. I don't know when it will happen though.

The question is though, who starts out as the AZ billiards King?

How do we decide who plays first? Should we do nominees? Make it where you can't nominate yourself?

I would vote OMGWTF as the current reigning King (Queen) since she publicly trounced cubc.

I think the first AZ King person should be nominated. That person should be a person who gets around to different locations and might be able to play different AZBers in different states. Someone just like you Jaden. You get around pretty regular. Maybe Mike Page or Roger Orsulak or Jason Laus etc...

If the Crown is not defended within 3 months, the Crown is withdrawn and given to another nominee. Is that too short of a period of time. Should we make it 6 months?

Should we have REGIONAL AZBilliards King and maybe a playoff at DCC or some other such tournament?

Others, please chime in. This could be fun.
