MR has a serious, full speed ahead battle plan. I just don't see the WPA as much more than a rules-keeping body for much longer at the pro level. They should just stick to amateur/national level stuff. Leave pro pool to pros.

Sadly that’s true. While I’m happy the sport I’ve loved my whole life may finally achieve the status it so richly deserves, I hate that it’s in the hands of Matchroom.

they were hedging on heyball to have a bigger allure for regular pool pros than it turned out to have. in theory the WPA calendar did have more money than MR, but it was mainly from heyball

it seems simple:

put on a tournament and whoever pays the entry fee can play.
or

have an invitational tournament and only those invited or qualified can play.
