Hohmann. Definitely Hohmann. He's got the right attitude, the skills, and the experience. He's the favorite to win, hands down!

But Mika's playing very well. I think he's pumped, especially after that come from behind victory. I think Mika is going to win it again this time around.

Still, Mika and Thorsten both won already so I think they might not be hungry enough for the win. Marcus, on the other hand, has always placed well and it's about time he took it all the way. So it's definitely Chamat who's going to win.

Actually, I'm just trying to jinx these three. Seems that the only way to be sure you'd get booted out is to be a favorite to win.

Not to jinx any of the last 16 players, I hope Rodney Morris will win this event. He plays the game so relaxed and he has a magnificient stroke.
He seems in to be quite in stroke in the knockout stages. ;)

I agree that Hohmann seems the logical pick, but the WPC website is reporting that Hohmann has bronchitis, and that might just slow him down.
I believe that Kuo, who noone seems to be picking, also has a great chance to win the title.

My instincts tell me that Wu knocks Chamat out of the event on Friday.

yup, I think Morris has a good chance of winning, too. I hope he wins! He's everyone's favorite!

Kuo seems to be a good bet also. I'm sure Kuo will win since no one's noticed him. Kuo's my favorite.

And if Wu wins against Chamat, then I bet Wu will win! He's my favorite favorite!

:)

How are you supposed to make odds and predictions on guys who we've never heard of?

Inside or outside the tournament, I wouldn't know Wu if he kicked me.

Except me and you, I pointed out yesterday that he is kind of sneaking in under the radar. Well, he just beat Hybler 11-4 to make the quarter finals so I think people have no choice but to pay attention to him now.

Good call on the Chamat vs Wu match BTW. Although that knocks me down to two players I have bets on, Immonen and Hohmann. (good picks hey!)

Those are my two v-bookie bets, also, so our fates are tied. Wu scares the hell out of me, though, and he might well be playing well enough to beat both Hohmann and Immonen to reach the final.

Here's a little bit of trivia. Chatted with a business colleague of mine from Chinese Taipei today and he told me the Kuo is pronounced "Gwo".

I'd say Manalo and Hohmann are the co-favorites at this stage, with Manalo top choice because of those two shutouts. But I'm rootin' for Rotneeeey.

Hohmann:

1st 2003 WPC
1st 2004 BCA
2nd 2004 US Open

If pool had MAJOR tournaments recognized like golf or tennis, the above 3 tournaments(the Derby would be another) would have to be considered pool's majors.Hohmann has proved that he can perform when the pressure is at it's greatest levels.RJ

Wu's looking very impressive on TV.

I'm watching rack 14 in his match against Chamat right now. He just played a long masse to pocket the 4. He got unlucky to get snookered on the 5, but he played a taugh kick shot to flick in the 5. Has a taugh shot into the side with speed and he pocked it clean to get perfect position to the next ball. That was a pretty impressive disiplay of pure shot making.
