Angry shooter

Buy a bottle of ball polish and clean the balls before you start. Bring a towel and wipe down the rails. Shame the fools into taking better care of their equipment.
Can I have some pitty too Bob? Me cleaning doesn't do a thing.
Sogard that's never touched but with chalk and 6 year old balls?

I feel for you Juice

Sadly some owners don't realize that if the cloth is all worn out it's because someone paid for a lot of hours of play. And that it lasts longer if it's clean. I think the largest problem in many pool halls is the owner.

My solution for the ball problem is to bring my own but recently I've noticed my brand new pool balls are meeting nail heads in the pockets.

Even more sadder is the fact that I refuse to spend my money on "my Aramith ball cleaner" on their Sh!tty balls.

I know it's a double edge sword F'd if I do and F'd if I don't. I suppose if I knew that the owners were going to be at the shop, I'd bring in the stuff just to rubb in their face. But, it's likely that has more to do with the fact that I'm a crazy Puerto Rican / Italian girl than anything included in this thread.

All good advice, Loren.
Yuk! I hate having to play on equipment in such foul conditions, however if that is what you must do, and you know it in advance then you have no gripe to make DURING your matches. Keep in mind your opponents are playing under the same conditions. They are probably hating the conditions too. You are at war with them. Don't try to team up with them against the table. The table will win every time. The player who adjusts quickest to the table conditions usually wins, all else being even. Keep your complains to yourself until the nights matches are over and then try to bring your issues to the "powers that be" with a smile, and privately, so as not to embarrass anyone. You might just get better results.

As far as making speed adjustments quickly; If you are sitting in the chair, watch your opponent carefully. Try to visualize the shot your opponent is about to shoot. Check the stroke he or she uses to see how much power they had to gererate to get the cue ball into position for the following shot. Make mental notes and concentrate on what happens on the table you will soon be forced to navigate. Carefully watch to see if a ball comes off a cushion oddly. In other words, play the game in your mind during your opponent's shots. You will find that with a little practice this will help you prepare for when it is your turn to shoot.

Yeah Ken! C'mon!

All I was going to say is anger is a waste of energy. I get bar towels and clean the balls and even the pockets. Wipe down the rails and play.
I grew up kind of poor. Not dirt poor. We recovered my buddies table with a army blanket and used mud balls. No one complained.
