hiya all... if u are in a good mood dont read this. its a solly rant post.
just needed to get it out of my system as this is plain stupidity!

as some know already, my country isnt really the best place to play pool. (check my country is unfair post..) now this happend.

im curently #146. ive started pool now since this summer after a long snooker career. as its the end of the year, i participated in the national 8ball championships. after a very tough qualifying rounds, but having played excellent i was SO happy i finally made it in the final 32. that final was today.

after a nice 2 hour trip (4h in total), and a 4 hour waiting time for me to play my first match, i was happy to see they didnt provide any barrcue's.. ok all top100 players have there own cue, and i dont think ive ever seen a top100+ player without a cue, but as im new, not one of the richest AZB'ers around, and still learning alot about poolcue's , before i spend alot of money on them. i have played all rankings and qualifyings with barrcues. but today in the final in Leuven University poolcenter, there wasnt any. so ... well i had to give "forfait" (sorry dont know what the word is in englisch). so conclusion, even if i think i could have won a couple of matches and end in the top10 of my country, i just couldnt play because of these NOOB organisers that never even thought about providing some barrcues just in case.. and i spend 8hours for nothing. (4h waiting, 4h traveling). im disGUSTED! Im ANGRY! Dissapointed, and i feel the training over the last months just for this national championship was done for nothing and just waisted. now i need to wait another full year before i can finnaly show them what im made off. i made a fool of myself, people where joking about me, and really this is the badest pool experience i had.

blah, rant done. (thx to let me post it so i get it out of my system)

Remember the ones that were laughing, next year use the memories for strength. It’s a long windy road, you’ll get them next year.

What happened to your snooker cues?
Couldn't you borrow a cue from someone?

How can you go to such an important event without cues?

???

You went to a national championship without a cue? It sounds very unfortunate, but I think it's time to go spend ten bucks on ANY cue. In 30 years you're grandchildren will have a funny story to hear from their grandfather. Best of luck next year.

It's the Belgian Bernie. :-) Sorry man, it's just funny to think of anyone who is halfway serious about playing not having their own cues. Even so I would think that someone might have lent you a spare cue if you had simply asked the organisers to help you. It has been my experience that in any big event there are always people with spare cues. Good way to make friends too.
Still, it's probably not a bad idea for tournament organisers to arrange for a small selection of loaner cues for those who find themselves at the event without their cues.

juegabillar: i never play with my snookercue. the difference in ball weight is so big, it feels like my cue is gonna brake everytime i need some power. i dont feel comfortable with it on the pool table. next time ill make sure to take it with me, but there wont be a next time. first thing im gonna do next week is buy me a cue.

breakup: i will
i said to the guy i had to play against. i own u a match... be prepared. but u are right, i should focus my angryness and transform it into a goal i want to achieve. thx for the advice.
How i arived so far? i just think i play well. i train 6h/week, and some call me a natural.. not sure whatever that means. in all the qualifying rounds, i just take the best barrcue around (as no one needs on, i have a very big choise, and i usualy find one i like) my last quali round i beat 3 top16 players with a non straight barrcue, BUT it had a greath tip. i just turned the curve in the way so it would curve downwards or upwards, and never sidewards. (yes im a experienced crap barrcue player  ).

why i didnt buy one before... like i said, im pritty poor for the moment, and like with everything, i like to know all about it, before i buy it. so ive spend alot on the cue sections on this forum; and now that im starting to know what to look at etc, i more then ever ready to buy one

TX Poolnut: yeah i know it might sound stupid.. but to me it wasnt. it was normal they would have at least some cue's , even crappy once.... but my children will laugh. :p thx for finding a positive thing about this very negative experience.

yeah i could have asked... but as im new, non of these players have ever seen me, while they are all packed together, laughing, making jokes etc, im that weird non-pro looking guy, sitting alone in the corner concentrating on his runouts.. its hard to get into the group. Hence why i really wanted to make a good impression today. im sure if i had won vs some of the big guys they would come talk by themselves. i did win vs some big guys in the qualifying, but as i kicked them out, they werent there.. so i was pritty alone. they where already laughing from the first second i entered, so i didnt feel like going up to there tables, and ask for a cue...

The organiser wasnt very friendly too. once i came up to him to say i had arived, first thing he said: I hope u are not going to play in this clothes, and u have your club shirt with u... i said: yes this is what i was gonna play with, and i dont have a club... so never mind a clubshirt. a friend that came with me had to borow me his pants, as mine was jeans at it was not alowed...
He then got angry when i put up a sigaret.. seems that was not alowed either. so never mind asking him for help.

if they are SO keen on there rulez, at least they could be as keen on puting up a rule not only for table measurements etc, but also at providing a minimum of cue's like u said..

man i wish i played in the US. u guys really have no idea, how well everything is organised compared to here.

thx for the nice words m8 :) your belgium silly sally solly bernie :D

ps; good note is, i climbed 50 places. im now in the top100 :D and only 4 of 10 rankings played (check my signature). still is a nice christmas gift. top50 here i come. They will REGRET to have laughed with silly solly :D next year, there sweet ass is mine :D
ps2: im not so mad about the cue thing, i just am sad i made a fool of myself. first impressions are always very important, and going to tournaments is alot more fun if u FIT IN, like they say. if u can spend time in between matches to talk about pool etc. but then again... im not there to make friends, but to WIN. and one day i will :D

buy your own house cue, cheap 15-20$ investment.. granted it will be a pain to carry it with you, at least you will have a cue..

if you dont want to do that, PM me I'll fix you up with a cue... There are absolutely no excuses for what happened to you..

2wld4u

2wld4u: ive already taken some steps into purchasing a cue, and many have already proposed to help before this happend and i posted this. but feel free to pm me. (ill probably will have something around 300-350 to spend.. first idea is a used predator 4k2;3 or any of these, or even a P2 wrapless... but will be hard, as they go for 400; or a viking F07)

I also think, that it should be noted in there rulez, that on the finals, every player must use there own gear, as non will be at disposition of the players.
wich never happened :). but i really dont want to go into big discussion with the BPBF guys...

i justed wanted to play pool, and enjoy my first big finals  thats whats pool all about no? just having fun, and learn.

sorry to hear of your unfortunate experience....you are a somewhat new/rookie player But you are moving up fast in your experience.......buy yourself a pool cue and an extra shaft...if you have to work a second job for the money do it...you do not need an expensive cue..just a good quality/feeling cue..no fancy designs..so it will be less expensive...then practice practice practice...........you can be a champ someday..next time you go into that tournament you will suprise yourself and many others of your great play..remember not to brag about your good playing ..let your good playing be your talking....everyone will wonder where did this guy come from ???also remember All the the problems with the pool league as someday U will be The Man and create a new and better pool league...good luck and keep us posted on things ..especially when u buy a cue....

Different countries have different standards for tournaments. In Europe there's still a lot of tradition in requiring formal attire, in the USA almost everything in utterly casual unless you are playing on TV.

As for the cue, whilst I'm sympathetic to your plight it is up to you to be responsible for your preparation. This means not only the practice but checking the venue, the rules, the dress code and the equipment beforehand. Many large tournaments are held in hotels and arenas that are not full-time Pool Halls so have no racks of house cues (barrcues) available.

The next time you are practicing and have found a bar cue you like why not just offer the guy running the place a couple of Euros for it and take it home? You'll look weird carrying it around at a tournament but at least you'll get to play. In Europe you can even still buy full-length cue cases for one piece Snooker cues that may fit it.

hiya all, short post cuz im at work.

after the incident, im 100% sure ill buy a cue as soon as a good deal comes by. so no more cue problems. a good j/j jump break u can buy for 30$ too, so ill have some gear soon. about how i play... i have no idea what rank i am, but i think im a B-C player. i run 4 consecutive 8ball runouts in the qualifying for a 0-5 victory over a top32 player, so i can play some pool i think, but we dont have classes here so hard to give u an idea.

ps i liked they idea about buying a barrcue i like. 2$ cue would be fun :D, but a pain in the *** to transport :D

thx all for the nice words :) i already forgot about the incident (my girlfriend helped with that part :p ) now im even more eager to play better, train harder, and win more. Be ware of Evil solly hehe :D
