Yes, the cue ball was in the rack and yes I did leave it that on purpose. I decided on the side pocket break shot when there was about 8 or 9 balls still left on the table. I then looked for a ball in the rack area and played for that to be my last shot (key ball). Schmidt does this a lot.

And have you heard his expert commentary on the rematch between John and Danny. He knows the patterns pretty well, laying them out before the rest of us have even figured them out. Not a bad voice for radio either.
 
Boy, that guy Marop sure is lucky. Notice how that cue ball just happens to stop where he has an easy shot?

and it was great watching you Marop! thank you for posting the vids.

maybe cause i'm old, but i don't understand why this is not the 'main' game in pool.

it is my understanding that it was the 'main' game when pool enjoyed it's greatest success and admiration. i think it is the most enjoyable to watch and i think it would help give pool a much needed resurgence.

i'm aware i must be wrong, but i don't understand why. can somebody clue me in to what i must be missing?

It's more fun because you don't have to watch all the safeties. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

You are a 100% correct. 14-1 is the "man's game of pool" that is why so many of pool's hero's played it so greatly over time. Wide World of Sports aired many, many 14-1 matches in the 60's.
It is good to see so many players that support 14-1 on this web site.
Whether or not you can run 10 balls or 100, straight pool is totally respected and is enjoyable to play.

Half-fast Larry and I finally got together yesterday for the first time in about two weeks. He trashed me. I think my high run was 6. I felt good, I played carefully but nothing worked. 100 to 60.
