Here would be table position after opponent's ball-in-hand from 1st foul. Opponent should either run out or force additional foul for 3-foul victory.

I've played one tournament in my life where 3-foul was in effect. Managed to win a game that way with some tied up balls. Not very popular in the bars I frequent, many times the tournament director will take a vote to require calling the 9-ball.

We just make our own rules I guess...

Not necessarily. This would be an ideal scenario for the shooter but not an absolute. With the cueball on the rail, it's not as easy a safety as it may appear. It won't be locked and there's a reasonable chance it will be mis-hit. Even struck correctly, there will be manageable kicks that can result in a return safety.

Neil: Well if you left me that , no chance that I wouldn't have given it back to you.

Not tht it matters now but . . . I probably would have pushed the 1 in like everyone else , only instead went left with the CB down to the head rail. Long cut on the 2 , off the rail on a tihgt pocket. Very tough but very rewarding if I pull it off , very deserving if he does.

IMO.

I'd call a push and take this shot. If he gave me the shot back I'd return with page 2 or possibly 3... depending on table conditions...
