Hmmm
Hey RJ, Something I have never been able to get my mind around is comparing the cost of a round of golf to pool time. When I was living in Chapel Hill NC we routinely played rounds of golf at super courses for $35 - $45 a round including the cart! It seems to me that the costs of maintaining a golf course must be much higher than a pool hall. So I've never been able to get around the comperable costs for a round of golf compared to playing pool for say four hours. Just puzzles me that the pool halls don't make it but the golf courses do.. Guess you can fit more people on a golf course!!!
Dan, yes, strange indeed. It's gotta cost a fortune to not only buy the land but also construct the course, build the clubhouse, and then maintain the entire course day in and day out that requires numerous folks, time, and expense. What is the mortgage on something like this??
But, there are tee off times for a reason. Because they have people literally standing in line to play golf. I work for a large company in Schaumburg, and I could find a golf partner anytime I wanted, 7 days a week, regardless of the course or the price. I only know 3 folks at my company that play in a pool league. These guys will burn a vacation days to play golf, and usually do numerous times during the summer.
Finding someone to shoot pool afterwork would be next to impossible. I could not swing a dead cat around any floor at work without hitting a person who plays golf. They might be duffers, but they spend lots of cash on clubs, tee times, shoes, etc. They talk about, they read about and they watch. I don't play the game, but these guys seem pretty pumped about it. Heck, even most pro pool players play a lot of golf !! I believe it even hurt one pro players game of pool spending so much time on the course!!
see ya, RJ
