I just checked my chess clock, and it was 18 hours, 14 minutes. :D

It would've been more if I hadn't sustained chop and freeze...

Interesting question.

I already voted 1-10 hrs, but do DVDs on tv count? If so, I'm in the 10+ hrs / mo. :)

Good question. For this poll, I was more interested in ascertaining how many hours folks have put in watching "live" Ustream, TV matches (what little there is), challenge matches on computer, live league sets, et cetera.

I know we have quite a few livestreamers now. Big Truck's PoolActionTV will be busy in Tunica, I'm sure, as will Accu-Stats. TAR has had a few star performances in recent times. Mark Cantrill is always coming up with some innovative ways to showcase pool: Legends and Champions, and the upcoming event with Shane and Earl will be one for the history books, I'm sure.

Just curious how much folks enjoy the show on TV and/or computer! :)

I voted 1 to 10 but probably the bulk of that is watching older matches on youtube.

The nice thing about YouTube is that it is available 24/7/365, which is convenient; whereas, the live matches require one to be there at a designated time in most cases.

This can often be difficult for those who have to work when the match goes into the wee hours of the morning. I remember a finals with Johnny Archer and Hillbilly at the Carolinas Open. OMG! It seemed like it would never end. :grin-square:

My calculation also included some youtube, archived BB and TAR podcast. In addition to live TAR, BB, etc.

Do you think you would have watched that much pool if it was not archived or available on YouTube?

I sometimes wonder if the availability we have today, thanks to advent of digital technology, plays into pool rooms having less patrons. IOW, we can get a pool high just staying at home, without having to travel to the pool room. ;)

Too damn much

I live out in the country and only get 3Gigs per month --- this month I went way over.. Bloody BB ;)

What does that mean 3Gigs per month? Does that mean your time online is limited to a certain amount of minutes, and then they charge you extra? That doesn't seem fair. That reminds me of when they used to charge "roaming" for the cell phones when they were used in certain areas.

Nope.

It personally did not affect my pool hall attendence. I blew out my knee playing tennis a month ago, so that's decreased my playing time and increased my viewing time.

Some services limit the data usage each month. My GF had an AT&T aircard she used for her computer. One time we purhased a TAR match, hooked her computer up to the flat screen. Next bill from AT&T had @ a $200 surcharge due to exceeding her 3 GIGs. Guess who ain't using an AT&T aircard no mo?

Wow! I had not realized it. For some, the PPV could turn into quite an expensive operation if you get charged for more than 3 gigs. That is an interesting monkey wrench thrown into the livestreaming shows.

The fact that TAR 35 fell within the last 30 days ... puts my answer at the higher end of the scale...

How may hours was the entire match, counting hours for each day, would you say?

I have recently became "addicted" to all different variations of pool. I have spent at least an hour a night watching old matches on YouTube and catching a live stream here and there.

I would say I have watched at least 40 hours in the past month. Sad.. I know.

Fairly simple poll but I blew the answer. Checked NONE when it should have been up to 10 hours or possibly up to 20 hours if you are counting snooker.

My speed reader is running on 1 cylinder - I first read and misinterpreted the question to mean how much I had watched on TV only.

n

apparently we watched 18 hrs - but that doesn't include the NON-hours of attempting to view BB both weekends....
(and that ATT bill last year for TAR match was $300+/+)
