Another suggestion for Grady....

Last March I played in the SE Open event in New Orleans. In my view the event went off without a hitch and everyone seemed pleased. I had the pleasure of meeting Tommy Kennedy. Not only is Tommy a good pool player he is also a good person.

In your effort to organize 14.1 I think that Tommy Kennedy might be someone who you could collaborate with. I do not pretend to speak for Tommy; honestly I can only list him as an acquaintance. However, my impression of him made me think that he is somenone that you could work with to put together an event.

Tommy's solution for questionable racking is simple and effective; winner breaks-winner racks. I think this is a great solution for the rack mechanics that you rage against.

If you have a preexisting negative opinion of Tommy than this post should die a quick death. If not he is not hard to find.

Only the single best idea about pool I've heard in quite some time. I've been suggesting this for as long as I can remember. I ill not gamble for any significant amount of money unless it is rack your own.

I saw more arguments over rack your own than I have in the loser racking.

If it's someone who know's how to rack or has thoroughly read and understands Joe Tucker or Charley Bond's books on racking and breaking, I damn sure don't want them racking their own in ANY game.

So are you suggesting that a third party should do the racking?

How about this. 8-ball is racked like the BCA. 1 of each on the corners and the 8 in the middle. 9-ball is racked in some sort of pre-determined order. Maybe the BCA or some other organization can come up with an "official" order for the balls. Opposing player can check the rack if they like to prevent "wiring" of certain balls. Just a thought.

If the corner ball(s) is loose, it will fly into the corner pocket everytime. Playing winner break, after someone has run 3 or 4 racks...that is when the arguments begin.

Your exactly right, which is why the oponent always racks.
