Another Tip When You Have No Tip Tool

Burn all jump cues

Many times I have been playing in little one table dive bars where the cues tips were all glazed and mushroomed. Take the cue out on the cement sidewalk scrape it lightly on the cement and spin it tip down. Most of the time I'd have 3 or 4 sizes of slip-on tips in my pocket or car. I'd just slip one on when no one was looking. Johnnyt

If I ever find my self playing in a one table dive bar I doubt the condition of the house cues will be at the top of my list of things to worry about. I'll be too busy dodging the glass bottles flying around the place.

Its a nifty little tip though, as for push on tips... If you care so much about playing with acceptable equipment I'd just take a cue with me. A friend of mine swears his cue with a push on tip is the best thing ever. I've tried it and it feels awful to play with, very tip-end heavy.

You can make more money with a house cue. Two-piece cues scare a lot of customers away. Johnnyt

In a pinch a house key or the edge of a dime works as a scuffer as well, you can also roll the stick on the edge of the formica rail top to take a mushroom out

Also if there is a brick wall, find a spot in between the bricks where your tip will fit
as the mortar does a real good job roughing your tip as well.

When I would play with bar cues I would us a quarter to scuff the tip and shape it. It actually works pretty well.

I used to love the look on my opponents face after beating him with a house cue, esp. when he just pulled his own that he was hiding behind the bar. Lol

Why don't you just buy 10 elk masters for $4.00. Work on them at home and put them iin your pocket along with a pocket knife and a little thing of super glue. It should take 30 seconds to cut the old tip off, 15 seconds to apply the glue, 5 seconds press the thing on, and you're all set. That's of course if you don't press the thing on cock-eyed. You don't get a second chance with modern-day super glue. But ...hey!... You have 9 more in your pocket and they're only $.40 each.
