**Another twist to my Hidden Treasure Find**

There I was at work thinking about my recent "find". I went to a guys house about 35 miles away to buy some fishing tackle, rods and reels he had for sale. As I was looking at the fishing equipment, I seen a Mini Q Lathe...to make a long story short....I walked out of there with the Mini Lathe for 475.00.

Got home and the wife asks "where is the fishing stuff at"? Well, hell, I forgot to get that stuff I was so excited about my "find" Well, I was gonna call him and head down there after work to buy the fishing equipment, and my phone rings...he says that I forgot something with the lathe and if I wanted to come down and pick it up along with the fishing stuff if I wanted it. I got there, and he handed me a Willards Classic Tipper Trimmer...yep, free...he said he was throwing it in with the lathe...I ended up getting a cpl of 1 Pfleuger reel, 2 Fenwick rods, 2 Ambassador 6000 reels...and about 300.00 worth of tackle for 200.00. So I spent 675.00 for all the fishing stuff, a Mini Q Lathe, a Willards Tipper Trimmer, some Duffering house cues, a few boxes of tips, 6 rolls of irish linen, some ferruls, Qcleaner, Q Silk......needless to say, I was gonna go fishing this weekend, but I have to destroy some dufferin house cues

Wow!! That is an amazing score for $675!:D

Yea..I was just going to buy some fishing stuff and this happened......

Honestly, I may end up getting rid of it and getting the big Hightower that does everything. The only thing that the lathe is missing is the key for the chuck..so I will order one of them and if I do get rid of this it will be 100% complete.

No idea what I am gonna do with the Willards tool though

I will take that challenge Craig.....We will see what the hell I can do with zero knowledge of building a cue. I will post pics as I go along the way for you guys to see.....

I guess now I have to buy a chainsaw to cut the house cue in two right:grin:

ftgokie, you are on a roll, please pm me six numbers from 1 to 49.

I'll play the Mega Bucks lottery Sat. here and we will split the winnings.

Like I said, if you need some help I would be glad to help you. I could loan you a tap so that you could put a pin in, I could send you a couple of 3/8-10 pins, I could send you a little phenolic for collars and a butt cap.

Just ask and you shall receive, I learned the hard way, but it doesn't have to be that way for you. I am certain many people on the forum would be glad to contribute to your project.

Just send me a pm with your address and I will put a few things in the mail for you!!!!

Oh and by the way, I can also tell you how to modify that lathe a little to make turning a blank a hole lot easier.

Take Care

As I said before, Shawn, this man is the only man you shoulda been talking to. I got taps, phenolic, and pins, but I don't know what Craig knows. I just hope you don't do a 'watchez' cue project.

Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Who knows, I might be the first person to make a cue that shoots around corners:grin:

Don't just use the band saw yet!

Don't go cutting those house cues yet shawn- Get manwon to tell you(teach you) how to get the grain to match up(at the joints) when screwed together. I would be willing to bet he knows how. Even though you have a machine-its a hands on job, just like cutting 3/8-10 threads, that are not cracked and broken up. just a thought. thanks to manwon for helping out Shawn. mark

Thanks to the 3 guys that offered to take the Willards off my hands for 25.00, and when I told them a price I would take for it, they said I was trying to robb them....

I think you will have much more success that watchez did. That's because you ain't talkin smack like he did, so that makes things much easier on you. Also, you also have me, Craig, and the rest of AZ to help you.

We wanna see pictures throughout the entire process. Maybe you can include the cue in the next build off!

<~~~~~~~~~~~~~ is actually sorry for making so many smart ass comments, but you deserve it. Who knows, maybe now, a box of purpleheart and ebony titlists will fall out of the sky and bonk you on the head.

This sounds like a fishing story you told, but I gotta give it to you sir. You sure caught the big one & have the pics to prove it. Great finds there my friend. If you stumble upon a treasure chest full of gold coins buried in your back yard, I`m pretty sure my wagon train ancestors left it there by mistake. Have a great weekend & go find some more hidden treasure.
Jeff
