On Thursday I was perusing the Accu-Stats website just to see if there was anything new. I was suprised to see that they just brought out on dvd the 1989 U.S. Open Straight Pool final featuring Oliver Ortmann and Steve Mizerak. It's a double dvd and the cost is 25$. I believe that prior to this that video was out of print. I'm looking forward to its delivery to my home.

It will be interesting. Good commentary. The play was less than stellar.

I have it too. I agree with Dennis. The commentary is fantastic on that one. Funny and informative. It also shows you that sometimes, even when you're good enough to make the finals of a major championship, the game can be rough on you.

"less than stellar" is exactly the phrase I was going to use.

I attended that tourney - Oliver was a relative unknown young
player, 22 if memory serves. He had been raining 100s all week to the amazement of many. Beating everyone from Weenie Beanie to
Dallas West and Nick Varner. Those were more innocent days when
we still beleived only Americans could play top level pool - esp
straight pool.

I had heard that about the quality of play before, but when I saw the commentary had Grady, Billy and Danny D my mind was made up. To me commentary may be one of the most important part of watching a straight pool video. If the commentary is good you can learn a lot and also be entertained when the action my drag a little.
