Antique Burt Balls 1880s

Just curious, did you ever roll them on a table? I will be they sound like a train coming down a track. I had some old ivory billiard balls that would actually bounce as they rolled..

I haven't i could ask my friend, i just saw them for the first time yesterday. They look pretty round to me. It's possible.

The sets that bring the most money are 2 1/4".
No major chips, chunks, cracks.
Good surface color (which is hard to find).

That's really cool! Notice though mine have a different inlay design where the numbers are, which is what I've been trying to tell people. As they are one of a kind custom. And how much approximately did your set sell for?

A guy who has the same set and sold in the past sold them for more then 10 times that amount. And those one didn't even have the same design in the inlays just the circular inlays.

Set #18 here appears to have the same design but are clay. Are they possibly the same? Same company on the box.

A doctor owned these his name is inscribed on the box and they are custom due to the custom design on them.

I think they are a simpler design than the one from the OP. Look carefully at the shape of the white of the numbers (the "eye"). The Stellingas' book on billiard collectibles mentions that Burt did several different shapes of eyes -- scallops, gears, ... -- at that time.
