I was just wondering how many 3 cushion players are on here. If so, what type table do you shoot on? what kind of cue do you use? and are you serious about your game?....................................mike

I play on a 10 foot Sorgen heated table at The Pool Room in Marietta, Georgia. It is a very nice table. I stink at the game, but love playing it. I use a Hightower Custom Carom Cue. It has a 1/2" diameter nylon joint screw, Bocote and maple full splice butt and maple shaft with conical taper from bumper to tip and just over 12mm triangle tip. The cue plays great, just wish that I did. What do you play with?

I play three cushion about once a month, generally on Verhoeven heated tables. I average about .5 per inning, and I've run a nine twice. I absolutely love the game, and wish more people I know played it. I don't own my own three cushion billiards cue, but I've occasionally used my friend's Helmstetter, which is a great stick.

i play on 2 different types of billiard tables. we have 2 gold crown ones 5x10 billiard tables and 1 soren sogaard that is heated and it came from the golden cue on queens blvd in queens. On the gold crowns i use a 21oz sneaky pete. for the heated table i use a 3 cushion stick that i won last year at valley forge on the heated 3 cushion challenge table. actually i won 2 of them. someone told me that they are used at carom cafe as house sticks. nice 2 piece cues that hit good..................mike

I play once in a while. I love the game but there are very few tables out there to play on. We have one place in Sacramento that has three tables and they're old. I don't know what brand they are. They play fair. Back in the 80's, I got to play a few times at a place in Hollywood owned by Frank Torres. He had about 10 or 12 billiard tables in the back room and they played fantastic! There were some real champion players there, Al Gilbert and Frank. I didn't get to play there that much but I was awed by it every time I went there. You almost never heard balls being hit hard and that room was like a church it was so quiet.

I play with both a helmstetter and an older schuler.Currently I live here in NYC and play at Master Billiards when I get time,I have lived in FLA,and Calif and probably played in just about every popular room that has billiard tables in the country.I love the game and still play as much as I can.

I can echo this almost to the T! I use my Joss when playing on a heated Verhoeven table as well, usually about 5x per month. I think my best run was 6. I'm still a novice at this game, but time will tell....

Great game. To bad not many play anymore. A good billiard player can not just kick at a ball when hidden in 9-ball, but kick defensively. Kicking is easy, kicking with defense is an art.

I hardly play nine ball much anymore, it's usually one pocket, straight, or 3 cushion. I haven't been playing much nine in the past few years, but when I do, it's flat out amazing how much my game has improved by constantly playing strategic shots in the games mentioned above.

You take a good one pocket player, they can three foul a person in nine more times in one night than the average nine ball player can in a year.

It is a great game, but I beg to differ that not many play anymore.I know of pool rooms all over LA and San Diego that have a waiting list to play at 1100 in the morning and no one playing on the pool tables until after 3:00.Even at the famous Chris's in Chicago no one plays pool until late afternoon but all the billiards tables are going from the morning all day.Same thing in most Northeast pool rooms. There are even some pool rooms/clubs that cater to only billiards, with 3,4,5 billiard tables and maybe 1 pool table or 1 snooker table at that.

Wish the game would catch on like that here.

I play as often as possible. I usually play on 9', but feel lots better on the 8'! That 10'er looks like a biatch, but I guess I am not ready for the hi-dive yet!!

I play w/ my pool cue, but am goint to start using a house cue.
I want a 3c cue- anybody know where the deals are?

I love the game of 3 cushion. I learned to play the game over 10 yrs ago on a 5x10 Gandy. I was not real good at the game but I liked it better then 9-ball. I started shooting pool again a yr ago after 6yrs off. The poolroom I go to has 50+ yr old 5x10 Brunswik. Only a few people use it. But I sit and watch the good players and learn. I play once or twice a week. I use my Schon w/ a Predator shaft. My highest run was a 6 (once, many many moons ago). I dont know my avergae per inning, but I do know I can rack up about 10 point in a half hour.

What is the average weight and tip diamiter for a 3 cushion cue?

I used to watch this pretty fair player from eastern Europe. He bought a billiard cue, first one I'd seen, and it was pretty short like about 54 inches. I can remember what diameter the tip or shaft was. This guy could masse the cb so well it was beautiful to watch. He had a very smooth and loose stroke.

55" to 56" is normal with 12mm tip being most popular here in the states. But I made mine 58" just like a pool cue, but I made the taper super stiff and used a 1/2" nylon screw intead of wood or metal threads. It hits the best for caroms of any cue I have ever played with.

Interesting to hear... Thanks for the info... I have a 12mm shaft that I was going to throw away. Now I have a use for it...

Makes for a more consistent playing surface. Have you ever heard of how different the cloth plays whether it is dry or damp?

Yeah I know about the humidity, I never can conciously tell the difference just sorta adjust I guess. How exactly does it affect things anyhow.
