Any Box Veneers Fans Out There?

I don't know how many Azers enjoy boxed veneers in a cue design but I am certainly one of them. I became an enormous fan after my buddy bought his first TAD cue in 1986. At the same time, the artistry of cue-making really intrigues me and so seeing photos of cues in progress from different cue-makers is something I really enjoy. Just in case there are other Azers that are "fans" of boxed veneers, here's some pictures for you to glance over.

p.s. I started this new thread so that any other Azers with cues (underway or completed) using boxed veneers can also post photos.

You Know Shadowmoss, I"m Really Not Sure But My Guess Is.....

Potassium.....

Bob keeps himself in really great condition health-wise, or so he looks to be.
He's away from becoming an old timer like myself and I can only presume
that diet & fitness are part of his daily regimen....maybe a different fruit will
show up in future photos........or else a giant meatball sub for all I really know.

If the cue you like had a wrap, and that's just a personal preference for my
cues, I'd be interested in that cue just like you. I love the dark wood and the
veneers really pop.....the red against the jet black ebony points and windows
are bold looking. I like that look & my last cue from Bob is somewhat similar.

Those cues look great. Boxed veneers look great and
add a very nice look to the butt of the cue.

Actually Eric.. the scariest item in that picture is the Sharpie Collection.. better known as liquid point, or an ebony pen in some shops....

Many people don't know but I had Sharpie develop a special pen called "Cortland" and I am attaching a picture. Best seller at Valley Forge...

Thanks for the photos. Bob Owen's veneer box work is outrageously good. His whole cue craft has been on the first tier for a while IMO--he's worked his way to the top right before our eyes. Do you know which cue is yours Matt?

Veneered boxes are always classy. These look really good, and the veneers seem very tight.

Like the bottom blue one...

Jazznpool........Yes, I Do Know Which Is Mine......

Martin,

The wrap you sent is for the bottom blue veneer version.......it's actually peacock, royal purple, and white......the forearm includes a framing black veneer.
Here's a photo of the forearm........What'ya think? Did I pick the right wrap combo for this design? The wrap in the photo is not the wrap you just sent.

The veneers on my other cue underway I think will be prettier but I just fell in love with the peacock & royal purple combination. I'm undecided about the
inlay design because I have several in mind and it's going to either be a traditional design inlay like fancy peacocks or something elegant like Fleur de Lis
inlays. Bob just told me he can make "anything" I want........anything covers a whole lot and so now I am really unsure which way to go.

Anyway, Bob already has another challenge finishing the ring design and from what I can tell, it's a indexing nightmare to complete. In a couple of months,
after I receive photos of the rings, I will post pictures....and when your cue-maker tells you that you can have "anything" you want for the inlay design, it truly
becomes a lot harder to decide what to use........what a delightful dilemma to have to cope with......Imagine that you can have anything you want........what
would you decide to use if it were your cue........it's not as easy to decide as one might think when your cue-maker tells you you can have anything you want.

p.s. Thanks for looking...... Brian, doesn't your cue's box veneers look outstanding......it might be the best in this group...Bob is absolutely a prince among men.

The antique gray wrap will add interest to your cue and should feel real nice in your hand. There's no bite to the feel like regular ear.
