Does your local, city, state or private college have a Pool Room ?

If so how many tables do they have, what kind and sizes are they?

What the colleges name and what city & state is it in?

Thanks,

Mj

I am a freshman at NC State in Raleigh, NC and our Student Union does not have any pool tables in it from what I have seen. There is a pool room about 2 blocks from campus that has about 12 tables in it.

I'm a senior at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, its located in Troy, NY. The student union building has 8 pool tables, they havent been refelted since 2005, and the rails are slow, they are 8x4 with slightly wider than normal pockets. The student union needs to refelt and rerail the tables.

I'm at the University of Illinois in Chicago. The student union has 26 8' brunswicks with a good discounted rate. Not sure how often they get touched up.

I'm at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin (oddly enough). We have a pool hall here on campus with 12 old 9 foot Brunswicks, which get reclothed every summer, and are in pretty decent shape. We have the regional ACUI tournament here most years.

The University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee has something around 24 tables at their Union, all 9 footers from what I saw then I was there visiting, but not in nearly as nice of shape as the ones at EC.

purdue university - west lafayette, in.

maybe a dozen (either 10 or 12) 9' olhausens, two of which have simonis cloth.

University of Houston in Houston, TX has 2 pool rooms on campus. 13 9ft brunswicks, 1 carom table, and 1 10ft snooker table in one of them. And 11 9ft brunswicks in the other "smaller" one.

Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona (just outside Phoenix) has about 10-12 nine foot tables. Although, I don't remember the type of tables (the room is in the basement next to the bowling lanes).

University of Colorado at Colorado Springs
Four 9' Olhausens with holes bigger than my last girlfriend.

I might be transferring down there. Any action on these tables?

University of Illinois @ Urbana/Champaign has 10 GC I or GC II tables (can't find any reference pictures to find out which) at the Illini Union.

Note: My avatar photo was taken at the University of Michigan, so those aren't the tables)

No. Not that I remember from when I was there (2000 - 2003), mostly just students playing in between classes. But in Tempe is Kolby's Corner Pocket (about 1.5 miles from the campus), and you can definitely find all the action you want there.

There are also other venues in the Phoenix metro area, where there is action, tournaments, etc... (i.e. Alexander's, Main Street, Kolby's).

University of Arizona here in Tucson has one. They held the national junior championships there a couple years back. I'll have to get back to you about the # of tables. Nice room and well mantained equipment last I was there, but they throw you out for gambling unless you are a UofA student.

just my alma maters

Indiana University of PA - Bushwacker has a excellent place open on philadelphia (the main drag in town)

East Stroudsburg, PA - FASTNLOOSE has a great place just outside of town.

each of these gentleman can inform you of their needs and quality of services they provide.

North Dakota State University, Fargo, ND

8 9-foot old Brunswicks -- dead rails & simonis

Kolby's is a nice place with good varieties of micro beers, not a bad hot dogs, or hamburger off their grill. Scott Frost when he is in the area is in Kolby?s a lot. Kolby?s has both Brunswick 9 footers, and a few Valley bar boxes.

Alexander is 7-8 Diamond bar boxes, 1 Diamond 9 footer, and a mile and a half away is Metro Sport Bar. 9 or 10 Valley bar boxes, and 8, or 9 Brunswick 9 footers.

Metro sports Bar is the BEST for food in a pool room/sports bar in the Valley imho. Also Metro has tournaments 7 night a week.

Arizona has a Rating System so if you have no Rating Card, you can only play in OPEN Tournaments. See Jazz in the pro shop after 2 pm M-F at Metro to get rated, and your card.

The U of Saskachewan has a pool room, was 8 snooker tables, now about 12 8'ers, but it may not be of any interest given that it is not in a "state".
