Any interest in some carbide sanding mandrels for $240 shipped and paypaled?

joe i think he means color wise, i believe its tungston (sp) but its like they have a high polish to them the sides of them are the standard greyish color carbide has where the out side remind me of my wedding rind and has a very nice slick finish/polish to them.

joe is it tungston, or do you know what grade it is, i believe thats what hes after.

i even attacked mine with 600 and they stayed very shinny and i never finish sand that low usually the lowest i go is 900, but i wanted to see if i would sand anything off the mandrels, they didnt budge one bit.

Before I go any further.....let me go on record of saying this has nothing to do with any previous post and I am not trying to start a fight.......I have worked in machine shops and worked with my fair share of carbide.....I also have used surface grinders and been around precison grinding a fair amount....I also have a good understanding of metallurgy........would you mind telling me what kind of carbide is used here....it is unlike any I have seen before....the scratching around looks like its been sanded........honestly it looks kind of like thomson rod????? Can you weigh in on this? And also does the brass go all the way thru the outside material??? Also why is the brass recessed?

I wondered the same thing when I saw them the other day. Then I realized it is just the lighting. I run into the same problem photgraphing antiques glass. Try taking a pic of a 100 year old piece of glass without making it look like it has been rubbed on concrete and you'll know what I mean.

It kind of looks like there is a slight difference in the size when looking at the lighting lines but I would bet that is no more than a .0001 variance in those spots (yes, 1 ten-Thousandths of an inch). As a visual, a hair is about .003. If you took a 1 inch long hair and sliced it longways into 30 equal 1" slices it would be one of those slices. If you look at the 2nd pic you see the nice ground finish you're expecting. It's just the lighting showing every line in the first pic and those digital cameras as so sensitive to light.

On the brass, Joe explained that correctly. I would have done the same thing. In fact, whenever I grind brazed carbide I always undercut the carbide, meaning I grind away the softer metal underneath the edge of the carbide on a regular grinding wheel so I don't gum up the diamond wheel. Very common practice.

You can't beat the Love it or Leave it deal he is offering! Even though a friend is making a set I designed with removeable businhings out of TS, I am still thinking about getting a finish size set of these.

Joe your being far too agressive.....Honest questions.....if the brass does not go all the way thru are these ground between centers? Also trent I belive most tungston carbide starts as powder and is cast into things like rings......also its much more expensive and not as hard as silicon carbide....It is obvious that the brass was not ground as you can see the single point cutter lines.....looks like it was done without a power feed. One of the main things I am curious about is the lines going across the mandrels??? I have tried sanding carbide with the best sandpaper you can get to no avail......you mentioned a taper that was not supposed to be there......I have thought about this and I think I know your problem depending on how you are grinding them......trying to help here

They are tungsten carbide. They are ground together. I am not being aggressive, I just remember your words from a different thread, and dont trust you, or believe anything you say. If you think Im going disclose every step of my operation so you and your pal can copy it, its never gonna happen bud. Keep stirring.

You have some ego, I must say, for some one who didn't know the first thing about how to drill a straight hole, you would be the last person on earth I want learn from. Besides I think you are full of it.
First of all I sat back and let you take shot after shot at me without saying anything, but now I will.
Second your mandrels look like harden steel ground on a lathe with a belt sander. It was you who posted last week if anyone is interested in harden steel mandrels.
assuming that everything you said is true, that you ground them between centers and the brass inserts don't go all the way, I am sure everyone would like to know how you center drilled the carbide prior to the grinding process.
Just to clear one more thing, people who were unhappy with my carbide mandrels got their money back. Everyone here is always interested in making money, for me I am in it this business for the passion and to make a little extra money.
Don't take this as an attack or stirring the pot, like you say.
If you think you can make better mandrels than me or the other guys that make them, good luck to you, it's always good to have a healthy competition, that will benefits everyone else and yields fair prices to everyone wanting them, and it will push everyone to make a better product.
I just hope you would act a bit more mature about this whole thing.
Good luck to you with the mandrels, and may the best mandrels win.
Regards

Bassel,
Your not being very honest here. I was unhappy with your mandrels and sent them back and still haven't received a full refund. I'm not trying to bash you but I didn't pay you in payments and I didn't expect to get refunded in payments.

Between this statement and how the last set of mandrels looked that were posted up of your id say anything you post has no grounds at all.

they are carbide they look professional and a true money back guarentee, dont be jealous becasue you made a similar but horrible product, with tons of unsatisfied customers.

Im working on some carbide mandrels and i have a set being tested by an experienced cue maker. They are precision ground to your specs, but tapering isnt possible at this time. How i will do it, if you want a set, i will ship them to you and you can use them, look at them, and inspect them for 2 days. If you dont like em, send em back. If they are acceptable, paypal me the money. Simple as that. I can only do 3/8 10 for now, but i plan on expanding to nearly all threads if it goes well. Let me know what you think.

Hi,

Joe is a great guy and this "try it before you pay for it" is a great deal and will be appreciated my all of the CMs. :love2: How can you go wrong!

I for one will get another set for my operations from Joe when he can do my 3/8 x 14 modified.

Good luck with your sales Joe,

Rick

My only response to you trent, is that, you are the most immature person on this forum, and I find no sense responding to you idiotic comments. For someone that spends 18 hours a day talking smack about everyone else on AZ and other forum says a lot about the type of person that you are.
A big miserable pethatic loser. May be you should spend more time building cues instead.
I will not respond to you ignorant comment any more.

Last I checked, we had a conversation about this followed by an email regarding when you would get the remaining 25%, but you already knew that. At least I showed the initiative to issue the refund and proper communication on to when you will get the remaining amount.

Trent thanks for the phone call with you vast vocabulary for swear words, which only proves your level of immaturity and class, or should I say no class
GROW UP ( you are embarising your self)

I have no horse in this race... I admit, though, I enjoy good flame wars. So in order for me to keep up, please Trent, explain what your beef is with Bassel. Then it would be easier to understand where you're coming from. What and when did he do something wrong to you? I'm not taking sides, just curious.

Bassel,
Actually I don't know Trent. Yes we did have a conversation about when I would get the remainder of my refund. 25% never came up in our conversation. 25% would make my refund quite a bit less than I paid you for the substandard mandrels. It was a really one sided conversation and I still have not received it. As I said earlier, I'm not trying to bash you, but I won't sit back while you tell less than the truth. You asked me not to post anymore negative comments about your mandrels and I haven't, but when you say that everyone has received a refund you are not telling the truth. I hope to receive the remainder of my refund in a prompt manner.
Thanks,
Marc

Interesting. So he promised you a refund and then changed his mind? That happened to me too, lol. Of course he needs our money to feed his passion for building machines, lol. He dont wanna make no money, hes here for the love, cant you tell? Just another scammer looking for his next mark man. It sucks that Marc and i were dumb enough to get tagged. I hope you get your money back man, but he promises all kinds of stuff that never happens.

Joe,
No, Bassel didn't change his mind. He just hasn't refunded the full amount. He did make a substantial refund, just not complete.

I have been warned also. I wonder if the other guys who have been calling names and me have recieved warnings also? Fair is fair after all. In the end the cue makers and repairmen will vote with their dollars, and after seeing so much drama and the way customers were insulted and belittled, its likely people will be cautious who they send their money to. If im selling something, its no hassle, no worries. Thats why i decided to let the customer decide if they like it before they buy it. I ordered the material for 6 more sets of mandrels and they should be here soon. Ill keep everyone posted on the progress. Thanks for all the support everyone!

Joe
