Any interest in some carbide sanding mandrels for $240 shipped and paypaled?

I guess i was unclear. Sorry. I think brass centers would be GREAT for any thread BUT radial. And if you know how to thread it for Radial, then I think it's great for that too.
I like radial pins a lot and I kind of forget that other people's main concern is not the same as mine.

Ok, heres the latest set. I think its the best set so far. I like the brass threads MUCH better than the aluminum. When i get my phenolic in i might try it, but i gotta say, this brass is gonna be hard to beat. This set is for Trent, and the next three sets are accounted for also. I appreciate everyones patience and more importantly, all your suggestions. I will have to order more aluminum and brass, but i should get started on the next batch very soon.

It's all very interesting. My TNS Radial mandrel is still going strong with it's phenolic insert after years of use. I agree with Eric that things need to be done right. I guess Tommy used the good stuff.
But metal is metal. I would rather have it too, but I wonder how tapping it is going to go? Hard brass with a Radial tap? OOOF! Phenolic is hard enough to tap with this particular thread. If someone can do it in brass, cool! Perhaps they can teach me.
Now, if you can cut a female Radial thread with live tooling, it's a different matter, but I understand it's a challenge. You need a special thread mill. I wonder what that baby would cost? Perhaps not too bad...I don't know.
Has anyone on here successfully cut a thread in brass with a Radial tap? I know I can't do it.
Don't all speak at once.
Eric, if you got your mandrels from the guy that makes your pins obviously it was no problem for him, but you use a 3/8-10, don't you? Radial pin is a special case I think. That was my only point.

Robin
"It threads just as easily if not easier." Are you sure about that? With a Radial pin??

I imagine a thread mill in a cnc could cut the female thread nicely.

Good Stuff!

Well, these are very nice.
I'll bet Randy is right about cutting that Radial thread...I never even thought of CNC.
I presume everyone is appreciating your hard work and the extra effort you're making to bring this product well past "good enough".

What makes a taper so difficult to do? That would be the ultimate!

Robin

I would love to try that, but i dont have a cnc machine...........yet!

Joe

If someone wanted the radial, I would bet a machine shop in your area could accommodate you. It would probably cost a couple hundred for the program initially, but there might be enough people to offset a run of 5 or so. Probably 300 to run 5 I'm guessing.

Now if you could just taper...:D

I'm not sure why he can't grind a taper, but I don't know anything about tool grinding.

How much taper is needed? Let me know and I will ask around.

That doesnt sound too bad Randy, but ive already got hundreds wrapped up in this project, and zero return so far, lol. If it all goes well, maybe I will check into it, but for now, id love to get these perfect so I can maybe break even, lol.

Think of it this way Joe, you and Santa Claus are almost the same.

The way those are looking, I'm sure that you will see a profit soon enuff.
Everyone that will take a set now and you can almost guarantee that every 2 weeks, there is someone asking for a set in the Machinery forum.

I know many of you like the brass over phenolic, but these two sets i just got back are the two best yet. The threads are nice and snug, and the guy who gound them liked them a lot better also. These two sets are .837 and .825. If anyone uses this size, let me know and i will ship em out asap. If you like em, pay for em, if not, mail em back. Makes sure you actually use them and try them out before you pay for them. My goal is 100% satisfaction on these.
