Any news on Modesto?

blah blah

Shoebat
There was a 9ball tourney in Modesto, CA this weekend- dble elim, race to 6 both sides, $50 entry. We didn't make it over there.

Anyone have any news from it?

Kim won

Kim Davenport took first,
Trevor Smith 3rd, I forgot the guys name for 2nd.

Tony C didn't finish in the money.

I heard it was REAL HOT in Medesto (100º +) inside the pool room.

Blah Blah... would have been a better weekend if you'd had spent in in Medesto... LOL

: ) thanks, tom! good jobs to trevor and kim, too.

as for having a better weekend with modesto, i doubt it- heat makes me realllllly irritable and grumpy. this is why i love Hard Times- they keep the a/c on so strong you need a sweater in august!

If you're still up to tonight, i will be there, sweater in hand.

There were 49 players. Paul Juarez took 2nd. I will get the complete pay outs and post it as soon as I get it....

Thanks, Nba. I'm happy to see that Kim is still playing strong. He's not getting any younger...:( I assume Tinsley was there. Does he still live in the Stockton area?

Doc

There Were 49 Players. Total Prize Fund Of $3,450.00....kim Davenport 1st, $1000......paul Juarez 2nd, $650.00.......trevor Smith 3rd, $400.00......tinsley Johnson 4th, $300.00......i Will Get The Rest Up Later............tinsley Still Lives In Oakdale, Just Outside Of Modesto And Works In The Stockton Area.....

I played in this tournament and it was well run and competetive. The field was stronger than I had anticipated with many top Northern California players, some of which were.......Tony CHohan, Roger Estelle, Trevor Smith, Tinsley Johnson, Paul Juarez, Jeff Gregory, Audie Perez, Frank Nordman, Justin Whitehead and Austin Murphy! Oh yeah, some guy named Kim was there also! One of the better matches I watched was between Kim and Tinsley. It's a race to six and Tinsley jumps out to a 2-0 lead on Kim and is running out when he misses the 6 ball on a makeable shot. Kim gets up, runs four racks, hooks Tinsley on the 1-ball and then gets ball in hand to run out the set! Whitehead and Nordman were barking at each other but it never went down, I'm pretty sure Nordman needs alot more than the last two he was offered. Tony was asking Kim to play but I don't think they came up with a doable game. I don't know how they are going to make a good game as Kim is the CLEAR favorite playing 9b and Tony can't be beat by anybody within a couple thousand miles playing 1p.
The pool room did get warm but nowhere near the 100 degree mark. This was a good event and I look forward to it next year.........Marc

So I am curious, if you know

Kim played in Reno but not in Sacramento in 1p or 9b. He usually does well there and has won before. Do you know why he skipped that tournament but played in Modesto?

you can bet all you want

say playsome are you sure frank nordmann needs weight? I talked to him and he said he would play that justin whitehead for what ever he want's.but he has to bet at least 2to3 thousand a set.minumum. he said he sure would like to see your two cents in there, seing you handicap so well.by the way you can findmr. frank nordmann at hardtimes in sacramento.

not hard to find

playsome we want you to know the facts befor you speak.1st.justin and frank bet 200.00 during a match in the jamboree.frank wins.....then at modesto justin starts barking as you put it,but frank don't bark he bit.frank says bet 500.00,well just befor the coin toss justin says no bet 200.00.frank says ok... frank wins again...he is not hard to find.. bring it on......;)

Come on Tom, I go to your tournament every first of the month, and you can't remember my name...thats hurts... Im just kidding Tom.

Come on baby, don't be a....baby! My opinion is that Nordman needs weight, and more than just the last two from Whitehead, and had the game went down I would have asked to put my two cents in...Just like I asked you to put your two cents in when you played TJ in Oroville, guess you didn't like that action......Marc

How but last 2 and some games on the wire for Nordman, hope somebody can set that up. I'll put my money on Nordman.

I live in Stockton. The pickings are a little slim but here they are:

Campos Billiards on Eldorado and Flora - just changed hands and I think the new owner, Tony, will fix the place up. It has been in pretty bad shape. They have a lot of tables but only 4 or 5 are in decent shape. This may change due to Tony. We'll just have to see what happens. They do have action there from time to time. They have at least 15 pool tables and about 5 or 6 billiard tables. He has a 12 foot snooker table in the back that is not available right now but it might be soon.

Eddie's Billiards on Hammer and West Lane - they have 9 pool tables that are Olhausen 9 footers but are more like home-style tables. Very nice place for everything but the tables. They recovered the first 4 tables and they play decent but they are still home tables. Everything else is exceptional there. There is some action there and they have a tournament on Tuesday nights.

Naughty Nick's is on Ben Holt and Pacific right behind Michael's Hobby store - they have about 25 pool tables and 1 10 foot snooker table. It is more of a party place for kids. The equipment is not very good. The balls are the same balls he's had for 20 years. They keep them clean but they're pitted and smaller from wear than newer balls. No action there that I know of. Few players play there.

Good luck and welcome back to Stockton. Let me know if you're intersted in playing some.

"Tony can't be beat by anybody within a couple thousand miles playing 1p".

Parica is only a few hundred miles away. My understanding was they were trying to match up a couple of weeks ago with Parica spotting him 9-7. They seemed to agree on the spot but couldn't agree on the amount per game.
