Any Other V.N.E.A. 11's Out There?

I thought 10 was the highest V.N.E.A. Skill Rating. Last night I played as an 11. Sounds like something straight outta Spinal Tap.

My team had to spot 9 balls a round to another tough team in the playoffs last night. We lost.

The guy running the league said I was penalized for not playing enough in the last session (I took a 10 week vacation.)

Has this happened to anyone else before?

Hey Cuaba,
Sounds like you have a real nutcase running your league. I played VNEA for a few years. (no others available in the area). An 11 is an impossibility due to the simple fact that 10 is the highest attainable score for any game. And penalizing you for not playing enough during LAST SESSION!!! Thats purely absurd. This league operator needs to be removed from his position. He's certifiable!

Even if I was a 10, we still didn't have enough points to win.

I'm not trying to be a sore loser, I just wondered if this has ever happened before.

Am I the highest rated player in the whole V.N.E.A.?

Cuaba, it wasn't this guy was it :D

I've played VNEA for 20 plus years and have never heard of ahyone higher than a 10.

I don't mean to hijack the thread but is that Allison Fisher socking Grady in the nose in your avatar?

It's likely a local rule thing.

In our BCA league, instead of the weaker-handicapped-total team getting the difference in total team handicaps per round, they get 125% of that. So 1=1, 2=2, 3=4, 4=5, 5=6, 6=7, 7=9, 8=10, etc etc.

This is completely a local rule, was meant to help the weaker teams some, i.e. to keep them playing and not quitting out of frustration. It *used* to be 150%, but that was too much. The weakest team in the league took 1st last session due to that. :P

Far as I know

Don't you feel proud? You must play better than anyone who ever played the VNEA system. WOW!!!!
10 is the highest handicap you can have. Now if your league operator wants to make you an 11, thats his call. But officially, thru the scoring system, you can only be a 10.
My team was winning our league every year, so we offered to double the handicap we were giving up, up to a total of 15 balls per round. The next year, we just gave every team 15 balls a round. It made our team play harder. Good luck with your league.

Highest Handicap in the V.N.E.A.? Maybe?

Best Player in the V.N.E.A.? Certainly Not!

15 Balls a round to every other team? You guys must play pretty sporty.

By the way, my normal Handicap was "10 for life."

VNEA uses a pretty simply system

number of points divided by number of games...

10 is the highest score possible per game.. 10's are common early in the season.. but if you are playing good competition, other players will ERO a few times..

maintaining a 10 against good opponents is almost impossible... ending the year with a 9 is very very good...

you cannot average more than 10 points per game in a game that ends at 10 points...

someone is smoking crack...

Depends on which handicap system you use. In Central Ohio, in the VNEA and BCA you can go up to a 13. Its called a power average system and has to do with margin of victory. Im sure were not the only ones using this system.
