Any pool in Tulsa

I don't know the exact details, but the ban had something to do with food/alcohol sales. If x amount of your profit came from food/alcohol sales, the smoking ban didn't effect you. The Palace didn't have a kitchen and didn't serve alcohol. That's my understanding anyway. I didn't live there when the ban went into effect, so that info is second hand.

And yes Magoos has a pro shop.

Eddie Farris is the cuemaker in pro shop does excellent work and repair

Yeah, no food and no alcohol is not a recipe for success in the pool biz.

Magoos isn't too bad at all. I was in there around 2 months ago just getting a little practice in. Was a Thursday night and they were running a local tournament. So I banged around on a Valley. They played very well. I didn't eat or drink anything harder than Coke, but the wait staff was friendly and made sure I was taken care of just as much as the guys a table down drinking alcohol like it was water. Pro shop is ran by Eddie Farris. I don't know much about him except the couple of times I met him at the Oklahoma BCA Black Gold pool tournament the past 2 years.

Have fun when you come down!

They had burgers at one point last year they were open. They served beer but no liquor.

Couldn't stay open 27/7 and sell liquor in Tulsa.

It didn't close for decades lol. We were trapped inside for a few days from a drifting snow storm once......

Best prison on earth lol

Second best town on earth. Good people, good food, good entertainment.
The Palace was great. Not as smokey as Magoo's.
Danny and Evelyn brought the Midwest Nine-ball Tour around a couple of times a year.
Dave Matlock, and Darren Everette would usually show up.
In 1970 I went to the grand opening of the Casa Bonita restaurant, just down the street.

I think T's Billiards offers a steak night. I remember seeing a flyer on Facebook for it. I haven't been in there since they opened it. But I do know they are active on FB promoting their local tournaments and such.

While not much to look at, inside or out, I've been in Sheila's...it's not that bad. I had a great time in there, playin' one of the better players in there. We had a fun set, and I never felt threatened in the least...even though I won.

Magoos is ok. I don't know how well they're keeping their equipment up these days though. Ever since Jim and Laura sold the place, it's just gotten worse and worse. (As far as pool, that is)

T's is decent. Tight tables and has kind of an old time feel. It's a smaller room with about 4 9 footers, a snooker table, a 9' three cushion table, and some bar boxes. It's at 21st and Memorial where the Billiard Palace used to be. It's more of an action room.

I wouldn't go to Shiela's. Not worth it.

Don't forget about cuespot! Family place! Mr. Ken and the retirement golf game are there!

When mr ken had his stroke, his lawyer and dr asked him why he didn't move into a retirement home community thing. He laughed said "my family's in this place;)

Sheila's does look unnerving I never had trouble in there over the years but lots of tweakers late at night at least back then. I remember when that one guy would bring his dope in and would play that old folk song on jukebox....

In the big rock candy mountains.......

Had to wait a while once for my cash holding someone's cues hostage once lol.

That's one thing about Tulsa. I never really had worries about getting paid. Or getting in some fight over a pool game.

Glad you asked, Ghost, my friend.
It would be Springfield, Missouri. The Queen City of the Ozarks, and the home of Tramp Steamer, Brad Pitt, Cathline Turner, Horton Smith, Larry Phillips, Bass Pro Shop headquarters, and Cashew Chicken.

Oh, I almost forgot. The late, great, Payne Stewart.

Tell mr. Ken ken Keebie says hi and to keep on working those old lathes!

They were 2 of the original Viking cues lathes. Very horn bought them. Joel bout gut them from very. Then sold them to either Eddie Farris or mike "silky" betts can't remember than purchased them back....I learned on them and so did ken. Ken picked them up from Joel when he bought cue spot!

Lots of history on them an even dpk did a little work on those lathes when he came show Joel some things in the early 80s.

Kens one of those salts of the earth!

Last time I was up myself and Jim Whitman chief and the rest of the retirement club as I lovingly call them played a 7 handed golf game....

5 hours later Jim, chief and I were all on the out hole and my at the time gf needed me to pick her up....we never did finish lol.

After ken had the stroke his lawyer I believe asked hi why not go to a kush high end retirement home (kens loaded but you would never know it) he tell me

"Keeb I looked at him and said....the hell am I gonna do in a retirement home? My family is at the cue spot and I love the game"

Triple tap to ken ken quarters. Always will be gold in the halls of castle grey skull

I did an instructor class at Ken Ken's room shortly before I met you in Lafayette the first time. What a nice gentleman, and he was a great host for the 3 day school. I vividly remember doing a double take when I asked him his name, when we met...and he said Ken Ken! LOL

I hate to hear the Billiard Palace closed. Whatever happened to the cue maker Pete Petrie (spelling?) that was there back in the early to mid 2000's. He saved my bacon one time with a repair during a tournament. I always felt like I should have bought a cue from him for that.

Tulsa is a great town. All the streets run north and south, except for the ones that run east and west.
If you know where the old Palace is then go to the next big intersection and turn left. In about 40 blocks you'll be at Magoo's. You'll need to be able to hold your breath for a very long time. It's smokier than a three alarm fire in there.

P.S. Don't bother stopping in at the Casa Bonita. They've been closed for years.
