Any thoughts about Pool Clubs?

Many thanks for all the responses. I really like the idea of using industrial/business/office space. I have been to other types of clubs that use that concept. One place was a club for creators. They had a full wood shop, metal working shop and tools for several other crafts.

At one time there were lots of men's clubs in the US like the Elks and the Moose lodges. In the San Francisco area there were maybe a dozen active Elks lodges and they had a 3-cushion league. They seemed to represent a large fraction of the 3-cushion play in the area. The US 3-C Nationals were held several times at Elks lodges. Most of them have either gone away or greatly reduced their activity. I think that sort of club just went out of style. Also, some of them were really bad at recruiting new members -- the older members seemed to be territorial.

That kind of club had a lot more going on than just one main activity. The large ones had things like swimming pools, gyms, and large dining rooms. I guess it was a kind of country club for not-so-rich city folks.
Basically, a form of discrimination if yah ask me.

I've been an Elks now 10 yrs.
Pay my dues, to help the many goodwill projects they create.
I'm not a big drinker.
I stop in once in a while.
Each lodge is quite different. Early on, it's getting a dose of localness' w/o the mess yet.
