Any tips for consistently shooting with follow through?

Greg, We disagree so seldom it seems strange! Going through a deep hole forces you to move the stick straight in all directions. Very hard to do with any stroke, particularly the pendulum. I tried a level hole, I tried tilting the hole slightly. Neither one worked real well. I had to do some very contrived manipulations of my stroke to go through a deep bottle.

After a little thought I realized I was trying to fix something that wasn't broken! While the tip needs to be straight side to side for aiming consistency, there is no reason for it to move straight on the vertical for more than a couple inches. The solution is simple. Forget a deep round hole, stroke into a channel. You can tell instantly if you have any side to side issue and you are no longer making any contact with the top and bottom of your guide. The slight vertical travel is unnoticeable when it isn't banging into glass.

Okay , I just put the empty Miller bottle on the table and , well remembered it's all for the muscles. Just like doing reps when lifting weights. Light weight with more reps....would be my physical fitness test. ... so will test self now as it's been years.

Okay first photo is finish at bottom of bottle. Second is at beginning of stroke. Uh set position. A step into after aiming and planning while erect.
Execution of 10 reps was accomplished at low speed. 😉
So 10 achieved with each hand no problem. So now will try for 8 at twice the speed. 😉

Uh set position
Ooops that's just before moving the grip hand back 9 inches. So the shooting hand is at finish position. Moving the grip back 9 inches is my method. Which allows a stroke through to the bottom develop muscle memory, maybe. 🤷‍♂️

Stroking my shaft in a small hole like that would elevate my BP. I'd have to be careful with that one. Anybody seen my glove??😉

Shoot the same shot over and over again. I am not talking a dozen times, i am talking thousands of times. If you are looking for consistency this would be it. That's why the X drill is good for that, a few thousand with follow, stop then draw.
I’m sure I’m missing something with this drill besides the ball🤣 I don’t see how this drill is going to fix my many flaws, it does show me my stroke is very inconsistent but it no way in hell it tells me how to fix my flaws.

Glaring red flag about the X drill. Longest shot on table, jacked up, massive parallax issues, instructions are mostly < Do This Shot>

Many will just develop the bad habits that help cinch the drill.

That is an issue with a lot of drills. We can develop compensating errors that make that one shot work but it won't work unless all the factors are the same. The old drill to hit a ball straight, headspot to foot spot, off the rail, back to the stunned cue ball on the foot spot and it goes back to the headspot. Seems like it would have to be super straight with no sidespin but compensating errors can make it work. If I want to practice that drill I set up a gate to go through. Double errors won't get you through a tight gate a diamond out from the foot rail.

Hello. I only just recently got back into this game after a 15+ year absence. Im trying to salvage any ability that I had once upon a time. I seem to have found my stance, my multiple bridges and the ability to line up shots without issue. The one thing I am currently struggling with is consistently shooting with follow through. I know im not poking at the CB but im not followimg through either. Any tips or drills recommended would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
This is a GREAT example of a proper swing....8:15 timeline.

The FSR overhead shot is VERY unique/not seen this camera angle before/love it, allows one to see the total body alignment/shot execution.
We sure do have to unnaturally contort our body allot to ''line up''
Sorry Zar didn't do the direct link time line from the video.

Send me $10 a week for the next 5 years and you'll be in a fix.

Well tips is The Topic, sew....The Big EYE is....imagine the shot.
A tidbit from David Rhoades.
Once I do that while standing at parade rest, I paint by the numbers. The pre shot routine. 🤷‍♂️
In the beginning its dance by the numbers. If I make it to the finals it's go with the flow. No need to count. 🤷‍♀️

To build a solid game you start with a solid foundation. Then balance.
You gotta crawl before walk. Start over and build from the ground up. Don't expect to enjoy desert before the broccoli (yuktongue).

Take the phenolic tip break/jump cue and wipe off any chalk. Run the shot making drill. Give it an appropriate trial. Grade self and do it daily for a week. 🤷‍♂️

Exactly your stroke is inconsistent. You need to have some fundamentals knowledge to fix why you are inconsistent.

Watch Ken Griffie Jr and his follow through.
Ichiro had a unique uniform adjustment as his pre pitch routine.

Read all the way through my response, please.

Absent a coach watching you, you have to experiment. The Mighty-X can help if you:

Experiment with:
Feet position: where is my back foot in relation to the shot line (left or right of it?) How close to the CB? Stretch or not? Once planted, where do my feet point?
Torso: where is it in relation to the shot line? Do I have enough clearance for my entire cue stroke?
Elbow position: high? Low? Inside the shot line? Outside? Dead straight?
Shoulder position: sorta the same as elbow.
Grip style: flare fingers? Fingers straight down? Knuckles straight down? Wrist straight? Grip tight? Grip loose? Grip in between?
Head position: left? Right? Vision center? Where is my vision center? Cue under it? Face perpendicular to the shot line or tilted left or right? Head tilted?

After you spend months and months and months and more months chasing all this down, toss it all away, start over, and do what feels natural and if you are successful, burn it in.

Or, bring none of this agony upon yourself and get a good coach, one who specializes not in coaching to a one-size-fits-all formula, but one who has the reputation that he/she can help you find YOUR alignment and body parts’ positions based on YOUR tendencies and physical structure.

I am only being halfway facetious with this response. TBH, a coach can only point you and guide you in the right direction. YOU have to figure out what works for you and put in the time to experiment using a coach’s input as a guide.

Best of luck.
