I was really impressed with his play against Strickland last year in Tunica. But, I haven't noticed that he's played in any major events since then. I realize he is young and may have school as a priority. Anyone know anything?

Well I have another interesting thing to think about too.

I met Skylar Woodward about 4 years ago. I know he had played Landon a few times and Landon was just too much for him at that time.

Understand that Landon may have the greatest coach in the country, Stan his father. As I understand it, Stan is at least shortstop level, and has passed all of the perfect fundamentals to Landon.

In the commentary during the Landon and Strickland match you will hear that Landon has the maturity to say, "I don't care about Earl". Strickland pulls his move that would bother most players, but this youngster Landon never let it affect him.

But getting back to Skylar, he has came a long way since those early matches with Landon. He has done some road trips, gambled some, won some tournaments and finished high in ones he hasn't. I will probably do a cut and paste and start a new thread but this IMO, would be a great match on TAR or other.

Landon is a great young man, and Skylar is a pretty good buddy of mine. Obviously, I like them both and would like to see them play in a big match.

Hey everyone,

My last major event was Tunica, it was a blast. Soon after I competed in a Joss Tour tournament at TJ's Classic Billiards in Waterville, Maine (did ok). Recently on June 9th I won my third Kentucky State 9-Ball title. Those are my last three tournaments since Tunica, not many.

Ever since I began my senior year in high school, for the most part I have been taking it pretty easy. My buddy Joey Hawkins (the machine) at the top put it best, I have just been enjoying life. With some practice here and there I have managed to some what stay in stroke. I have never worried too much about "losing my game," never really had that issue. My senior year was a blast and this summer has been awesome.

July 9th I turned 19, on August 21st I will be starting a new and exciting chapter in my young adult life as I will be moving to St. Charles, MO to attend Lindenwood College for four years. I will be playing on their billiards team and I am more than fortunate to be coached by Mark Wilson, one of the finest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I will be jumping back into a lot of practice weekly in order to prepare to for the Collegiate Championships. I would love to win one for the Lindenwood Lions!

During these next four years you will be seeing and hearing much more out of me.

It will be great having another top player here in St.Louis. Mark is an awesome guy and great coach. If you want to get out to some action or tournaments here call any time. 314-805-8922 Brendan Sullivan

Landon in St. Louis / St. Charles

I am very excited that Landon will be in the St. Louis area. I am a St. Charles resident, and I am not totally helpless on a pool table. If Landon is interested in good one pocket action, St. Louis and Cue and Cushion is the place for him.

I am afraid he may have hard time getting games in 9 ball / 10 ball. I may make a donation, but I need some BIGTIME weight!

Good Luck with everything. Mark is fantastic, and St. Louis is excited to have Landon in the area.

Thanks, Landon, for coming on and briefing us on what you've been up to. Enjoy college and competing with the team there. We all look forward to seeing you on the big stage again soon!

Hi Landon,

I've been playing rather well for 47 years, since I was 13. If I had met CTE/Pro1 or TOI or had the mentoring that you have had before I met my wife 32 years ago. I may have gone Pro. But I met my wife & my life took a different path. I'm actually glad that it did.

I have four grown children, two with masters degrees, 1 CPA. 1 taking his CPA, & one still in school.

You will undoubtedly be a very very good pro player one day if not a great player. That time is certainly ahead of you. Your time now is to get the best education that you can. Pool will be a relaxation from the grind that school can at times become. But please stay focused on school & do not let pool divert you from school in any way. The pool aspect will certainly come in the future when it should if that is the direction you choose after you get your education.

I know you have heard this or something to this effect from your parents but sometimes it is good to also hear it from someone that is not your parent.

You are already much more than an 'A' player. Now the game needs you to be an 'A' student as well. The game needs all of the college graduates that it can get.

All the best to you & your family,
Rick

sounds like you have a smart head on your shoulders
pool will always be an option for you
a college degree can open doors that pool cannot
get your degree
get your education
and have some fun along the way
just my 2 cents

I watched the match against Earl on the 10 ft table...you game is scary good, or should I say wicked sick.

You could retire from pool now and just say "I beat Earl Strickland on a 10 foot table", what else is there to accomplish.

Very smart. Enjoy college life. Get an education. Pool will be there when/if he wants to persue it. Also, what Mark Wilson and Lindenwood are doing is phenomenal and it would do pool a lot of good if other colleges and universities could follow suit. There are several, including my alma mater (go Hoosiers), that have club billiard teams that play 2 to 3 times a year, but Lindenwood is taking it to a whole new level.
