Hello Dave,DDKoop said:Just curious to know how everything is progressing with Janice and how Blud is doing these days. Haven't heard anything in a while.

Janice is trying real hard, but not making any headway.
Looks like our insurance is maxed out, so I will be giving her OP, PT, here at home. They are pulling the plug the 15th or so, I've been told.
I've been out of the loop for a few days. I'm building a new bath room for Janice that is for a wheelchair. It will have room for the equipment used for her PT, and OT.
The experts say, she will never walk again, or have use of her right arm again, but we don't believe one word of that.
I have been studing PT, and OT, for weeks now. I'm far from being a pro, but I think with her guts and me helping her everyday, we will beat this, in time to come.
Question?
Does anyone out there have any books, and or video tapes on PT and OT, for those who have had a stroke? If so, please e-mail me. I'm trying to learn all I can. Thanks.
Thanks Dave, for your concern, my friend.
Thanks again to all you folks, for your help.
god bless

Thanks Jeff. I will look into that info. many thanks.chefjeff said:Blud,
I post this in the spirit concern for Janice and you, not as a "me too" type of thing. OK? Maybe it can help you.
My father had a severe stroke 6 years ago and the doctors said he'd improve for about a year (first they said he would die right then, but...) and then not get any better. He couldn't talk or walk for months. But, I just took him with me to Chicago for the weekend, snow and all, and he walked and talked pretty damn good for an 85 year old major stroke victim. So, you're right about not listening to ANYONE who tries to limit you and Janice. My dad wouldn't have any part of negative thinking. The words he repeats more than any others: "I'm getting better every day."
My dad has had EXCELLENT results with neuro-linguistic feedback (do a search for this, as there's quite a bit of info out there). This is a technique that uses a computer screen with colors, etc. and attaches electrodes to his head. He responds to the screen and this helps his thinking and nerve pathways in his brain. When he exits this therapy, he can talk better, think better, etc. He goes about 3 times a week, but the insurance won't pay for it.
I'm thinking of trying this therapy for playing pool, btw. Apparently some sport stars are starting to use these techniques to improve their mental game.
Another site that has helped, is The Pacific Institute, run by a guy named Lou Tice. His wife had cancer a while back and a lot of what he teaches was used by her to overcome her problem. I get a daily email from them, as it is for anyone who wants to improve his/her condition. Here's that site:
