Next Wed. I will be in Anaheim and wondered if there was a local tournament. I have played in a couple at the same place (can't remember the name) near my hotel - Hilton - but wondered if anyone knows of any others that hold a Wed. night tournament. Can be 8ball, 9ball, straight pool, 1 pocket - I don't care. I won't have my cue though. Thanks for the help.

There's tournaments

There's tournaments almost every night of the week at Danny K's....

They have a unique rating system there. It's only a couple of blocks from anaheim dpending on what part of anaheim......

I can't remember the name of the street it's on.... It's one block over from Katella right by Anaheim pond.

Yah, Danny K's would be your best bet. They used to have League nights on Wednesdays but that was moved to Tuesdays last year so you are OK as long as there's not a big game on that night (It's a Sports Bar too)

You'll need to get there early (Around 6pm) so the Wayne the TD can figure you out a handicap rating.

Thanks all, Danny K's it is. I have been there twice and they rated me an A, which I got excited about until I found out it goes all the way to 6A or something. I wasn't sure if they had a tourney on Weds., and I forgot their name too when I was posting. I beat a couple good players with my handicap, but still haven't made it into the money. I don't like that it is single elim. though.

Actually the person to watch out for there is Ramin or sometimes Vince Bakhtiari, he's rated a 12A last I saw. I told you the rating system there is wierd......

12A...that's almost my bra size!

Aunty Dan, Hilla Hilla, and Stoltz have offered to come out and escort me to the tournament or possibly on Thursday if I can get away. It will be fun to meet fellow AZers.

Ramin was on the Ballbreakers game show, and went home with the money. When I draw him in the tournament, we go to eleven, and I get five on the wire to start. He skunked me last time (er, white men can't jump?).

Shirley and I try to make it in once a week, so let us know when you'll be there.

Hi JohnnyP,

I will be there around 6 or 6:30. Hope to see you both there.

suckr,

Will you be in town for the MD&M West show?

ghost ball

I'm not sure what that is?

I will be in town only Wed. (Danny K's), Thursday (Hard Times if I can get out of the team building dinner, lol) and then I take off Friday evening to make it back so I can leave at 6am in the morning for a tournament near Canada.

The show sounds interesting. Is it a billiards trade show?

I think he's referring to the Medical Design & Manufacturing trade show that's in town this week. I'm going to the Pacific Design & Manufacturing show which is on at the same time in the hall next door with a couple of engineer friends of mine.

Neither is directly Billiards-industry related I'm afraid, but if you're looking for a small contracting shop to prototype that wonderful Pool widget invention that's the place to go.

Ahhhh, the stuff I sell is already big and assembled medical imaging equipment. Thanks for the info.

Btw, who are the best shooters at Hard Time's Thursday night tourney and how do they handicap there?

Jaden,

Will you be able to make it on Wed. to join us? So far we have Aunty Dan, Johnny P and wife, Ghost Ball, Stolz2 and his girlfriend, and maybe Hilla_Hilla and girlfriend. One of us might win! lol

Well it was a fun night. JohnnyP and Stolz2, who I already knew, were there and I was surprised to find a few other AZB'ers shyly "coming out" when they figured out who Linda was. She was not too hard to spot being one of only 2 women playing in the tournament that night, plus she was making enough noise for 3 people ;-)

Young Ghost Ball was there with a friend but did not play in the tournament. It also turned out that a regular at DKs (and a good shooter)was an under-cover 3RAILKICK.

As for the tournament itself, well I won't embaress Linda by disclosing her handicap rating, but she managed to make her way through to the semis where she came up against Ramin and the rest was history. Still she managed to get her in the money, which is more than I did, winning my first match easily but losing my second badly. (It's a single elimination format.)

I know Linda and Mack were trying to get together for the Thursday night tournament at HardTimes, but I'm not sure if this came about as I couldn't make it.

Ha! I got stood up by Stolz2 (he says he's sorry), took a $40 cab ride to Hard Times, and played in the tournament...got 9-12th, I think, was running back and forth to play a cheap set with Hilla's girlfriend, Sue. Played lousy, but was running on absolutely no sleep for the last 3 days. (Tied for 3rd at Danny K's, whined about my rating and got lowered, lol). Talked to Dave Hemmah about the IPT. King Kong and Shawn Putnam playing on the table next to us - King Kong winning.

Got home around 11:30pm and stayed up til 2:30 on Friday, got up at 6 and was just a zombie! Went to a scotch doubles tourney with Mike. Picked up the ball when it wasn't ball in hand, didn't take BIH when it was, shot the wrong group, forgot to put up a bead. Needless to say, Mike was having a cow! We were out on the first day (got 2nd last year, and won the year before), but at least got our money back. We played as bad as we could and still took 7/8th. I slept the 2 hours to get home and then another 11, then napped at halftime. We got screwed, the Super Bowl was so fixed. Everyone in WA is hot!

Anyway, thanks for the good time, Aunty Dan and everyone else I saw there.

Linda
