I'm really struggling to find any info on pool halls in Cancun, does anybody know if there are any decent 9fts there?

I thought I'd found one in playa del carmen but they only have bar boxes :(

This is the closest I thound in Guatemala, not good! :p

I have a real good friend and former employee who just moved there last week and he is a top pool player so if there is one he will find it. If and when I find out I will respond. When are u going there?

youre a legend! I will be there in about a week, travelling overland from Guatemala via belize.

The reason I urgently need to know is I need to book a flight to NYC for the 14.1 event. If there are no pool halls in Cancun I will need to fly earlier and book ASAP.

I'd prfer to stay in Cancun longer for costs and obvious reasons! Also 4th July really makes flights tricky.

Really appeciate any help on this one :)

A little success

I called and found out there is a billiard room somewhere as my friend has not been able to go yet, but he is going this weekend. It is called Marquez Billiards and supposedly has about 15 , 9 ft tables, but not guaranteed yet. He will call and let me know. He also said I could give you his cell number and you can call him. His name is Tony and speaks fluent spanish and english so you can maybe try and get some games as he will be able to find out any players at the room.
He is good at that. Let me know and I will p.m. his number and last name.

You lead a tough life Mr. Riley. I wish I had your kind of problems. Biggest worry is finding a 9ft table in Cancun... man some people have it rough! And then to top it all off he has to go play against some of the best pool players in the world in NYC. OUCH! :P

OH MY!!
Seriously, you are in Cancun and would rather play pool than what, pool side bar, hot women, beaches, women, boat drinks, diving, women, ....
I thought I had the pool bug, but you my friend have it real bad.

It's been well over 10 years for me since I played down there but if you're looking to get some quality practice I'd say enjoy the sun n fun and head to NY early. The tables I played on rolled about as true as my lawn with a similar covering:p Another thing to remember is that you don't have to get far outside of the heart of Cancun to realize it's a depressed economy so be very careful if you do end up in some action. Best of luck in your tourney.

I remember playing on some 9fters when I was in Cancun back in '96 but I can't for the life of me remember where it was located and what the name of the place was. All I know it was hot as hell and I was the only female in there so I left after about an hour or so.

Exactly. Give it a rest. Sheesh.

Hey now come on guys(and girl) I do have to go back to work in 5 weeks!

Seriously though reading about the 14.1 event in MD kinda made me a bit twitchy! I need practce!

Thanks again, funny I was on an over night bus to tikal last night and the guy sat next to me is an American who lives in Cozumel. He tells me theres a pool hall there with many tables inc 2 carom tables(not good for 14.1 though!)

Have to check it out though could be bad

thanks

Try the CANCUN PALACE. I understand they have a pool hall with live entertainment. (Not sure of the table sizes) Lively place though, not sure if they allow Buckingham Guards.

I wouldn't travel off the main strip unless you had a local guide.

You will find a few outdoor bar tables along the strip in some of the bars. Very difficult to play on in that humidity.

You will find a bar table in the lobby of the Grande Caribe Real Hotel, if it is still there.
